Visiting this place for the first time in 30+ years I wasn't sure what to expect The first impression that meets you at the entrance is that this place may have something to offer. The place has lots of interesting facts about the local town and surrounding area from facts on coal mining to the local army at the time... More

I visited the museum today, and whilst part of the museum is closed off for refurbishment, what is available gives you a good insight into the Hamilton area and the formation of the Cameronians.

Two historic buildings sympathetically merged, make low parks museum a joy. Friendly staff, parking at the door, close proximity to hamilton town centre. Loads of local and Scottish history. From the Covenanters to the cameronians, coal mining to weaving, heavy horses to agriculture, battles to ancient tombs, palaces to mausoleums, the longest echo in Europe, brought to life within this... What a wonderful place to visit. It is surprising just how little you know about a place on your doorstep. Great place to take the kids for a very interesting day out. There is an excellent tearoom within the premises.

The lad at the front desk was friendly and approachable, nice greeting on the way in, cheery farewell on the way out. I'm sure his skills went... More
