Courtesy helps digestion
Sep 2021
Visited for coffee and cake which was tasty but overpriced. The courtesy of staff was inconsistent. One was pleasant whilst the other was indifferent and unfriendly.

An interesting place to see
Aug 2021 • Friends
We missed the last tour of the day as we found it difficult to get information about when the tours were being held. The website doesn’t seem to have much visitor info. The clothing is lovely but very, very expensive - prohibitively so. Signage at the centre is lacking. Clean loos. Nice menu.

Let’s have Scottish Water!!
Aug 2021 • Couples
The overall experience of shopping and eating at Johnston’s of Elgin epitomises what is good about Scottish commerce and tourism. Johnston’s quite correctly, trade heavily using the ‘Scottish Brand’, however how disappointing they serve Welsh bottled sparkling water!! The restaurant has clearly spent heavily on very attractive Scottish crockery, so please, keep the message consistent and serve one of the many excellent brands of Scottish water which are available .

Just had a lovely lunch at the Cafe, it was extremely busy but the staff were fantastic. Took drinks order and explained it would be 20mins for food as they were so busy. I had the scallops salad and my wife had black pudding salad. Both were excellent. Thank you.

Great place to eat
Jun 2021 • Friends
What a lovely place to eat lunch! We had tried to find a cafe in Elgin for coffee and a light lunch. Both Costa and Starbucks were offhand and not looking too hygienic. Young chap in a shop suggested Johnstone's. Brilliant. Food was fresh and plentiful. Place has a lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. There is not a lot of vegetarian choice but they did gluten free snacks. The display of cakes looked tempting though we were too full to eat any. Plus, of course, there is the most luxurious range of beautiful cashmere to drool over and save up for! Special!

A wonderful experience... back to some normality
May 2021
Popped into the restaurant which was superb and then a browse round the store. Ended up seeing a nice coat... thankfully in the sale and husband bought it as an early birthday gift. Stuart was an absolute delight, very well mannered and so helpful. We popped over to the other store and served by Joanne, again very upbeat and helpful, Nice to get back to some form of normality and visit a lovely shop, have something to eat and a browse ... browse... with ending up buying. The sale is a good chance to grab yourself a really nice bargain... or in our case five pieces.

Poor customer service !
Dec 2020 • Couples
As long-term customers of the shop and coffee shop, we arrived this morning to be 'greeted' at the door by a member of staff directing us to the coffee shop. Definitely not the level of customer care we are used to.
However we duly made our way to the coffee shop and there was no one at the entrance , so we stood at the doorway and waited to be seated. We were approached by a member of staff who again didn't provide the level of customer service we expect from Johnstons and gave our details. Other customers we witnessed had the same experience.
We were seated , given menus, approached by a member of staff , taking the order.
One of our party has a milk allergy and asked if he could have the 'Speyside Breakfast' but instead of scrambled eggs , a fried egg. To which she replied, 'no the chefs a bit funny about changing things' !! No offer of going to check with the chef just 'no'!!! He then politely said , 'I wont have anything then' , still no offer to check with the chef. This is the first time and we have travelled the world extensively , that we have been refused a change of egg!!! From start to finish the visit to Johnstons fell short of what we would expect or in fact normally receive. The only reason we have given a two star rating instead of a one star, is because of the first class service received as always by Lorna in the home department.

Shocking customer service
Jul 2020
Purchased a really expensive item and have lost count of the number of excuses they have made for not repairing it. Customer complaints just go unanswered. Doesn't exactly inspire customer loyalty.

OK but very expensive
Oct 2020
Reasonable food but £3.05 for an Americano coffee. Really!!!! Service also leaves a lot to be desired. It seems they don't communicate with each other. The coffee arrives then 20 minutes later the cake arrives by which time the ccoffee is cold. It was acceptable under the eat out to help out scheme but not any more.

Fantastic Scottish community, would consider living there, check TripAdvisor for top things to see and do, Johnstons was probably our favorite and spent a lot of £ there...
