About
A warm welcome awaits you at Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin. Glen Moray has been distilled on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897 by a small dedicated team of craftsmen. In over a century of distilling at Glen Moray, much has changed. However, the ingredients, processes and the skills of those responsible for producing this finest quality single malt whisky remain constant. A small, friendly and informal distillery, Glen Moray is situated in the city of Elgin, the historic capital of Speyside. The area around Elgin is known as the Laich of Moray and has a mild climate. Indeed, an old Moray saying proclaims that the Laich of Moray has forty days more summer than any other part of Scotland – making Glen Moray one of the sunniest distilleries in Speyside. The Visitor Centre runs tours of the distillery, tastings of the whiskies available and has a small coffee shop and gift shop.

A most enjoyable tour which is excellent value for money.

At a cost of £7 per is by far the best value for money tour We have done of any distillery. We were show around by Callum who is estremely knowledgeable anout all things "Glen Moray" and we enjoyed some samples of the whisky at the end of the tour. The gift shop is very well stocked and affordable too. I highly recommend a visit to this distillery.

Whisky from Elgin

You get a very informative tour around the site followed by not one but two tastings. The shop was full of Glen Moray merchandise.

Easily My New Favourite Distillery
Aug 2021
I've been on several tours by now and was half kicking myself for signing up for this one. (Malt, water, yeast, blah, blah, blah.) But for £7 including 2 tastes I thought why not. Well, I actually learned a few new things on this tour and the guide (Calum) was really warm and personable and able to answer questions easily. I especially liked seeing examples of all the cask experimentation that Glen Moray does. When it came time for the tastes, we got to pick one from their core 3 range, and the guide picked one from the rest to share with us. I knew I was also going to purchase their £20 tasting of four very limited edition pours so I chose their most basic Glen Moray Classic for my tour tasting. It was surprisingly good! But then our guide gave us a whisky finished in Chenin Blanc that blew me away. I had to buy a bottle of that. When it came time to pour my 4 limited edition drams, Calum knew the Chenin Blanc was already in there (showing just how generous he was with our group!) so he let me substitute that with one of their "bottle your own" casks from the back of the shop. That ended up being another highlight. I loved everything I tried, but bought a bottle of the Peated PX finish too using the "bottle your own" experience and that was really special. They let you write the label yourself and watch the bottling and sealing right in front of you and then packed it in a beautiful wooden box to take home. All that for only £55 and I thought that was the best whisky I've ever had. There's so much left to explore with Glen Moray so I would go back every time I'm in the area. Very impressed!

Brilliant tour!

This is one of the better whisky tours I’ve done in Scotland. £7 for about an hour long tour with 2 tastings at the end. During the tour, you get to see the whole process for grain to whisky and even take a look in the warehouse where there’s 1000’s of casks stored. Brilliant from start to finish!

Brilliant day out - the town of Elgin is jam packed with atmosphere - brilliant tour, very in depth and full of amazing facts. Highly recommend for everyone - even non drinkers of this fantastic brand.
One of the very few tours i would happily do again in a few years if passing through.

As a regular diner for lunch in the restaurant we were more that disappointed at the. last three visits ,
Soup cold and tastelass , scone hard as a brick ,coffee fairly good warm .
The plus point was the young lad who attended our table he was friendly ,chatty, and made our visit acceptable ,
We did not have a tour as we are regulars at the restaurant . We have recommended this to friends but have been disappointed

Fantastic tour with Bradley
Jul 2021 • Family
We had a family holiday to Scotland and decided to do a whiskey tour at Glen Moray we was a little worried having 2 teenagers and that they may become bored. However our tour guide Bradley was fantastic his knowledge of the whiskey process was brilliant and he kept us all entertained throughout. The food in the small cafe was lovely and a great day out was had by all. Thank you Bradley for a great day.

Excellent tour from Ellen.
Ellen said she had only been in the job for a week but provided and excellent and informed tour. More informed than tours i have had at other distilleries with seasoned tour guides. Well done

Is the Distillery within walking distance of Elgin town centre? If not, what public transport or taxi options are available?

If you are just in Elgin then it's only a half hour walk - the distillery is in a residential area, not a remote location.
It also has a proper cafe as well, so you can refresh yourselves with a cup of tea before the whisky!
