So glad that our hosts at Camfield House recommended a stop at this well thought out museum in Thurso. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in town. Such interesting displays, running the gamut from Vikings and Picts to nuclear research.

We spent 2 whole hours leading about Caithness and the Dounreay nuclear plant. Absolutely fascinating. Well worth the entry fee of £4.

Thurso can appear dreary but the interior of this museum is modern, clean, bright and attractive- in contrast to rest of town. Good welcome from staff on reception and in cafe. Interactive displays upstairs. Introductory film on third floor helpful and recommended.

Had a lovely wander round here, on a very rainy and blustery day. It's not massive, but well worth a look. There is plenty of free parking in front and round about it. Very helpful staff, and is wheelchair accessible. The building itself outside is...More
