Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

As everyone says, the first class afternoon tea option is pricy (especially if there's an odd number of people in the party), but it's a lot of fun. The occasional trip on a steam train is good even if you're not a railway buff, and...More

A nostalgic steam train journey. Scenery was good and the staff were enthusiastic. I think most of the staff are volunteers and one young man (ticket collector) gave an interesting talk about the railway line. A must for anyone seeking to turn the clock back...More

Awful and to make matters worse when I sent an email outlining the experience and the issues they did not have the decency to respond. Save your money, this is a complete rip-off!

Quite pricey for what it is but incredibly fun. We went first class for afternoon tea and my toddler loved it. She sat by the window yelling toot toot (her train noise) and pointing at the farm animals we passed. Pricey, but worth the cost...More

A must for all steam enthusiasts, young and old. The line runs from Aviemore, main line station to Broomhill, a round trip of 19-miles, following the River Spey. The train usually stops at Boat of Garten station to take on water for the engine, so...More

This railway is well worth a visit. The trains are clean and well preserved. Scenery is spectacular. Staff friendly and helpful. Station at Broomhill was the setting for Glenbogle in the Monarch of the Glen TV series!

A delightful trip on a steam railway which we thoroughly enjoyed. The engine and rolling stock were well preserved.

For £12-20 round trip this is a must do for trainspotters or for us regular folks! Nice views and staff. Great historical value. Food was ok but not anything special, tho.

The brochure says roughly "delicious afternoon tea on a scenic route". Neither is true. I have been on many steam railways in Wales and East Anglia and they are all more scenic than this one. The staff did their best but who brings pots of...More

I believe that there were dogs on the train when we visited. As the other person said check the web site and give hem a call. The trip on the train is great.

We went on a Monday. There were two coach parties about 90 people. Still lots of room. A great trip if you like steam, which I do.
