Poor service - neglected all night
Sep 2021
My girlfriend booked a table here for myself and a friend on the night of Saturday the 18th of September and we were all left incredibly disappointed. I have worked in hospitality for years, and I understand how busy and stressful it can be, but the service was really poor.

We arrived and were shown to our table and were given adequate time to decide our drinks and we ordered our first round. The drinks arrived and my beer was very nice, but I still hadn't decided what I wanted to eat. Our server said she would give me another minute to decide. This server never returned and it wasn't until we finished our first round of drinks that I had to speak to go get a different server to come to our table and take our order. This next server was pleasant, apologised for our wait and we ordered our food and another round of drinks.

Then, our food and drinks arrived, and I was happy with the fish and chips, and enjoyed my beer, although my friends thought their food was just okay and a bit bland - I can't remember what they had, sorry.

However, once the food arrived we weren't served by a single person until we asked for our bill. Nobody came over to check how our food was, and empty dishes and glasses remained on our table for ages. Eventually a manager came over (I assume they were a manager as they had a shirt on instead of the other uniform) and I asked for the bill. I was hoping that they would ask us how everything was for us so that I could give feedback in person, and not have to write an online review - maybe something could have been done so that we didn't feel so bitter about our experience - but not once did anyone ask us how our time had been there.

In the three-ish hours we were there, we only managed to order some food and two rounds of drinks, when we would have definitely spent more on drinks as the beer was quite nice. Like I've said, I understand how hospitality can be, so I don't like to leave bad online reviews. The other rooms seemed reasonably busy with functions, so maybe it was a combination of low staffing and poor management that meant the service we received was so poor, but if a manager can't even have the initiative to ask us how our time was (something that is a basic necessity for service in hospitality) then maybe more training and organisation needs to be thought about from the top down?

There are plenty of options for food and drinks in Glasgow, so I can't say I could recommend this place to anyone based on our experience that night. It is a shame because the beer is nice and the interior of the space alright too.

Consistently superb!!!
Sep 2021
Was in the mood for a Sunday fry-up today and, after considering a few tried and tested options, decided to go to the Drygate Brewery instead. There was a bit of a delay in the food arriving but, when it did, what I got was a perfectly cooked, well-presented, very tasty breakfast. Square sausage, link sausage, fried egg, haggis, bacon, potato scone, beans and some toast. Delicious. The only thing missing was black pudding (they'd run out) but I didn't miss it because everything on the plate was outstanding and they made up for it with extra haggis. This was all washed down with a pint of IPA. 10/10...I'll be back. :-)

Great microbrewery
Sep 2021
I enjoy a craft beer, so would ultimately have this down as a must do whilst in Glasgow. An excellent range of fresh beers across a variety of styles, a nice compact place with a decent atmosphere. Drygate haven’t fallen into the trap other breweries do and put there taproom in a high ceiling space, and end up killing the ambience. Enjoyed a couple of IPA’, the mango being the pick of the bunch.

You must visit when you are in Glasgow
Aug 2021 • Family
Fantastic place, a must to visit when you are in Glasgow. Lots of choice of different beers, we chose an elderflower based lager and a IPA as a couple of our choices. All our food choices were fantastic too! The main part of the whole evening was the excellent service we received from the serving staff, they really couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend

Great Beer.. great food..
Aug 2021
Had a few nights in Glasgow and as beer lovers we decided to give Drygate a go. Booked in advance and downloaded the app at the hotel before arrival as recommended in previous reviews.. I recommend the same.
We were there mid week so it was not so busy and sat inside with a view onto the brewery. Lots of outside seating but weather was not that great.
Beers were really good and food was excellent.. nothing bad to say! We both had the trio of sliders which were delicious. Bought a load of cans to bring back to Wales with me which is sitting nicely in my refrigerator ready for the weekend.

Brewery is on the edge of the city centre but an easy walk from most central hotels.

Dropped in to shelter from the rain. Ended up having a lovely meal and a few beers and soft drinks. Burger was awesome and girls loved the fish and steak. Nice welcome away from the rain. Thanks

Awful experience
Aug 2021 • Friends
Very poor customer service and rude staff, we booked a table inside and were given one outside and told to leave, then eventually moved inside after complaints and then told they could not serve us.

Hello Ewan. Thank you for your feedback. I’d be keen to look in to your review and see what we can do to make other guests experiences better. Your review lacks a bit of information if your able to provide an example of the rudeness shown to you. And maybe also a reason as to why you were told service wouldn’t continue to your table, along with a date and time that would be very helpful in my investigation. Please do get in touch with me directly so I can look into this with urgency.- jamie@ drygate.com I would ask that you at the time of your booking were aware of any covid 19 regulations for group sizes? As since we were allowed to reopen at the end of April our most popular area has understandably been our outside areas. So the only reason I could fathom as to why you would have intentionally been put out side, rather than inside where would have more space, is that your groups size was too large for us to legally seat you inside. By caving to your demands this would mean we would have broken the law. this is a very serious thing I would have to deal with and would result in a very serious disciplinary at minimum for the manager on shift. I hope you understand the severity of these actions and why it’s important you contact me and give me the opportunity to understand which staff members are putting our business at risk.. Again with urgency. I would also ask that you are aware that due do licensing laws, we are not able to serve anyone we deem to be "drunk". This being generally the only reason why we would refuse service to anyone, other than being underage. I hope to hear from you soon. Jamie Fleming General Manger.

RACIST VENUE/MANAGER
Aug 2021 • Solo
Avoid if you're not white... RACIST VENUE. Just went there to have a drink and a short bearded manager at the entrance immediately said they could not serve me. Could only be due to the colour of my skin as no other reason was given and there were plenty of spaces?

Hello Tapiwa M. Thank you for your review. The mistreatment you have suffered at our venue is completely against our values and we must apologise. It’s a very serious matter which is now under investigation . It would be great if you could assist us by providing a me bit more detail. I would appreciate you contacting me directly at jamie@drygate.com. With the date and time of your visit and also if possible a bit more detail of the staff member in question as I am struggling to match your description to one of our team members. Thanks for your time. Jamie Fleming General Manger.

Bigger portion sizes needed
Aug 2021
We visited early on a Sunday looking to get some breakfast. We weren't greeted by anyone and had to look around to find somebody. The brunch menu was pretty small and didn't have a great deal of choice. I ordered the scrambled eggs on sourdough, which while it did taste nice, was absolutely tiny. £7 for one small (burnt) bit of sourdough and a couple of scrambled eggs. Really disappointing, I can't see it costing much more to make it an acceptable meal size. My partner ordered the steak sandwich (which I had some of as I was still starving), this was a better sized portion but was sadly quite bland. The staff were really friendly and nice and the place itself looked great, just a shame about the food really.
