About
Rated 5 stars by VisitScotland, providing programs of entertaining Science theatre, Planetarium, and around 300 hands-on interactive science exhibits over three floors, to introduce science to everyone. "BodyWorks" examines the science behind human health and well-being, "Powering the Future" the future challenges and solutions in our energy-hungry world, and the digital planetarium allows visitors to 'leave earth' and travel through the cosmos. Planetarium shows have a £3.50 add-on charge. A shop & cafe are free to access, as are outdoor exhibits set in landscaped surroundings of a Fibonacci Garden and wetland moat. The centre is also home to an IMAX theatre, Newton Flight Academy, and Glasgow Tower. Schools and outreach programs extend the Centre's work into the community. The Centre is a registered charity with surpluses returned to the education mission. Cycle stands, car parking & public transport links or a 15 minute walk along the Clyde from the City centre.

    Brilliant half day.....
Normally at these interactive sort of museums there is plenty out of order. Not so here. And what a Centre. It was truly magnificent for Adults and Children. Everything well and clearly explained and loads of fun. Would go again anytime......
We're so pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit - thank you for your review!

    Fun for mind and body
Three floors of interactive activities to keep everyone mind busy and alert. This is definately a place for all ages. Although we went during the school holidays and it was quite crowded, our grandchildren still had a lot of fun. Recommend for anyone who likes a challenge mentally.

    Planetarium was incredible
Planetarium. Visited this many years ago and watched an interesting documentary but technology and graphics have come a long way since back then. One of my favourite albums, Pink Floyd; Dark Side of the Moon was played start to finish with incredible graphics to accompany the music. Fantastic experience. Hosts were engaging and knowledgeable. Entry and exit were trouble free, plenty space to move around. Seats were comfortable. Venue was clean and well maintained. A great experience and will return for other albums, should they be available.

    Educational family fun
What better way to help all the family learn new & exciting things about Science, the modern world electricity production or the human body than by doing it interactively, three floors of interactive fun for everybody. We also visited the planetarium for a visit through our stars, planet’s & galaxy’s. To see the fun & excitement on everybody’s faces as they learn & play is priceless. Well worth a visit but it is not a quick visit, the little people will want to be there all day.

    Enjoyable day out.
Had a day out with our granddaughter and she loved the many active displays though didn’t understand the purpose of many of them. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is a cafe on the ground floor with a limited selection of food at a reasonable price. Unlike other Glasgow Museums it isn’t free. We were advised to pre book but ended in the same queue as those who didn’t book which seems pretty pointless.

    Fun and educational
Lovely location and great building. A real wet weather day salvation for families with children. Sitting on bank of the river a stunning building within east reach of lots of hotels. Multiple levels and hundreds of interactive displays to keep children and parents busy, entertained and educated at the same time Well worth a visit

Excellent staff and extremely interactive museum
A brilliant museum with excellent staff! This is by far the most interactive museum I have ever been to and anyone with children should definitely visit. The staff were all friendly and helpful but Veronica was AMAZING!!! She led the night sky planetarium show and she was hilarious, impressive and just so friendly. She genuinely made our experience and anyone who visits has to see her show, she's a star (space joke) and I hope the management know how brilliant she is. The highlight of my trip to Glasgow!
Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to write a review. Thanks for your shout out to our staff, especially Veronica - we'll be sure to let her know :)

    Great family day out
Went with my husband and our 11yo boy, we all had an absolute whale of a time! There was lots for kids of all ages, displays were all very informative and interactive, even us adults learned a lot! We didn't have time for the planetarium show, but the planetarium displays were our favourite part, they were well-designed and very informative. The cafe was also reasonably priced and the soup and cakes we had were delicious. Highly recommended for a family day out.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your day out at the science centre. We look forward to welcoming you back when you can hopefully catch one of our Planetarium shows!

Wonderful way to escape wet weather.
Always wanted to visit somewhere like this. Was able to be a big kid but learn in a way that suited me too, even as an adult. Worth the money and gift shop was really reasonable too. Staff was so lovely and helpful. Wasn’t busy at the end of summer holidays.
We're so pleased to hear you had a great time!

Glasgow Science Centre is one of Scotland's must-see visitor attractions. It has lots of activities to keep visitors of all ages entertained for hours. There are two acres of interactive exhibits, workshops, shows, activities, a planetarium and an IMAX cinema. We'd highly recommend everyone spend the whole day exploring their curiosity and enjoying all our experiences at Glasgow Science Centre, but we understand that sometimes life gets in the way

What a wonderful time in Glasgow Science Centre, and to promate Glasgow city and appreciate the local environment. I personally experienced Glasgow history, current industry and saw how the river Clyde support an extensive variety of the wildlife.

Booked online before visit for x2 teenagers and 2 adults. Had seen Imax film advertised and as fungi and bjork fans decided to go. Teenagers 17 & 16. Is easy to get to from Glasgow bus station we walked really not far then took bus.

They just scanned code and let us in. Its many floors and loads and loads of activities and things to do so barely any queues as there is literally so many activities, which is great for families and small children.

However there is not much explanation around the activities about the science behind the experiments etc other than very basic information. And the topis again not so much information. Teenagers lasted less than hour.

The film is visually good but again narrated by Bjork is a push as it had a brief bit of speaking but mostly Merlin. Also again, you would have to know literally nothing about fungi, its not revolutionary to be told they help materials decompose. Teenagers were bored and one of adults fell asleep!! The ushers at Imax agreed with teenagers that it didnt count as a documentary and wasnt informative but might be suited for younger children. Although not around 5 or below as those children were bored and running around.

I think this would be a wonderful place to go if your children were below the age of 10. And there are plenty of experiments so even packed there is still things for people to do but any older than about 10 or further and there is not much science or in depth explanations around the exhibits, leading to bored teenagers. Which is why the rising prices as you age seem very unfair.

We wont be going back and it was pretty expensive for a 'day trip' which in effect was mostly sitting downstairs waiting for IMAX to start.

We visited on weds 10th April, travelled and stayed in glasgow to have a whole day at the centre. Family of 4 with kids aged 8 & 14.

This was our third visit to the centre and we enjoyed it very much. The exhibitions and interactive activities kept the whole family entertained. We took in a planetarium show too which we all enjoyed. All staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable. We were there from 10-5 and could have stayed longer.

Unfortunately our visit coincided with a very wet day during school holidays. From around 12 the place felt too busy. Very noisy and chaotic, and difficult to have a turn on the interactive displays. Felt that the centre should have a lower max capacity as it just got too busy throughout. The cafes struggled to cope with demand, with lots of items selling out and the environments looking dirty. Centre quietened down around 4.

Overall it was a good visit but could have been much better. I understand that such attractions will be busy during school holidays but this was overwhelming and really put a dampener on the day.

Just a fabby day out. Lots and lots to do and see with at least 2 free fun shows to watch. Plenty of enthusiastic staff on hand and 3 floors of activities and opportunities for little minds. Best for school kids and above but lots of buggies on the go. Take a packed lunch and grab a coffee inside. We have the yearly card and that’s worked well for us and parking is god and reflects the area.

This is a children’s museum with lots of outdated displays. The building is far more ambitious than its contents. The use of the form of the building is wasted inside as if one person did the building design and another with no concept of architecture designed the interior. The displays would not be out of place in a warehouse. Noisy, crowded and chaotic, it’s an okay place for kids on a rainy day to share a virus. Wayfinding in the building is tedious. A bit expensive to get in and disappointing for the price. With an overhaul of the displays and imaginative use of the interior it could be really great.

I visited in Feb 2024 with my 8yo son. We arrived about 10am when it opened and spent all day there, leaving around 1630, never bored.

There's plenty of lockers just near reception to leave your coats and bags (£1 coin each, refundable), you can take a picnic, or you can use the cafe or coffee shop (hint: the coffee shop at the imax has shorter queues).

The IMAX is worth a visit for an extra couple of quid as an add-on, and all the exhibits on the main floors are fantastic. Great for kids of all ages and a learning experience for us adults too.

This is a great family day out, we didn’t have children but we could certainly see the attraction with children and families alike. We only spent a couple of hours here however we should have spent more of the day here to get our moneys worth. Staff were also so welcoming and lovely!

Two adults & two 9 year olds visiting during half-term. Some decent exhibits and the inevitable several that were over played with and out of order. The Science Show and Planetarium were enjoyable (even if the presenter of the latter sounded a tiny bit bored of the script after the 1000th time). Going at a quieter time, without other parents allowing their toddlers and younger kids to run feral and interrupt other patrons’ experiences, would probably make a positive difference. It seemed much busier than other similar attractions.

The biggest let down though was the cafe - the poorest offer of any attraction we’ve visited over the years as a family. The gift shop was uninspiring too, with plenty of standard “science” kits that you can purchase anywhere, anytime - very little in the way of unique items.
