Common theme but no action
Aug 2021 • Friends
The theme running thru most of the reviews is the same issues ..the staff are pretty rude and the management don't respond ... I've always thought the stewards were judgemental and choosy but after sitting outside and listening to them and their comments .. It goes way beyond that ..discussing in detail pretty loudly what they did and didn't like about those coming up the stairs.. even attending a gig recently with my daughter..I thought I was getting told.. not tonight ladies.. as they do often.. Staff in the bar were uninterested unengaging with anyone and looked past me a few times till I had to say excuse me.. then I got told off for standing in the wrong place to get served!! I had no idea their was a right place.. anyway don't expect the management to respond .. they just don't..

Lovely meal in the Brasserie!!
Sep 2021 • Couples
Had a wonderful meal in the Brasserie last night. The food was amazing. We had the scallops and pigeon starters. The pork and the duck mains. The sticky toffee pud and the creme brûlée desserts. Wonderful and all very tasty. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed it so much we returned today for brunch in the bar area. The Scottish breakfast was delish!!!

I heard that Rod Stewart frequents here so we visited. And guess what, he was not there when we came.
Some staff seemed friendly. Drink prices were affordable, but the decor is great. The toilet at the entrance was a bit tacky. The sliding door felt odd. Nonetheless, I definitely would return

Have a drink, then move on.
Aug 2021
We visited the restaurant during our stay. During our week long Scotland visit, it was perhaps the most disappointing meal and service experience. I asked for a wine list and I just received a puzzling stare with a “good luck” choose 3 just in case we don’t have your preferred choice. We asked for a martini, and was told they don’t do cocktails???? We then chose a Gin and tonic, and that seemed to be available. (Keep in mind we asked for a straight gin martini). My advice: stop by for drink (in the pub only), if they seem to have it, then move on.

Worst restaurant ever! 4 cold meals and an hour wait!!!!
Aug 2021 • Friends
If I could leave no stars i would!!! Waited over an hour for cold food... there was a table of 7 that came in 30 minutes after us and got served before us...Terriable service I went up to the young waiter to ask about our food and he was very polite and went to check on our food I had no problems with him. When we got our food it was cold, after an hour's wait!! I asked the other waiter he was older with dark hair (he seemed to be a supivisor) and he was very unapologetic and didn't care about any problems my table was having. With a high class experiance your expecting great food and service, but when 4 out of 4 of my meals are stone cold then I have a probelm. I never complain and when I asked the dark haired waiter I was super polite but he just took the meals, was super rude and then just gave us the bill. With nothing taken off not even our starters or our any drinks. Somthing, anything would of been appreciated ..... No sorry, no nothing. Considering this was 815 our table was booked I would expect faster , warmer service... What I got was terriable a server with no customer service and horriable cold food. I never leave a bad review ever! But never go here if you don't want your time and money wasted. Worst restaurant experience ever

Great to be back ..... well, great to be ANYWHERE, to be honest !!!
Jun 2021
Having been locked down/up for the last million years or so, we finally made it back to Glasgow on Sunday evening, and as we were staying across the road in the Hilton we decided to give Oran Mor a go for food and drinks.
Having not visited since the end of 2019, it was great to go back!!
Unsure how busy it may be, I called in advance and spoke with Megan, who was extremely friendly and helpful ... we would have thanked her personally before leaving, but she was last seen carrying till drawers into the office (no idea if she ever made it back out !!!!).
Anyway, we were shown to our table, whereupon we were introduced to our server, Lewis ... he was keen, friendly, pro-active, and an asset to the operation! He looked after us for the next couple of hours, while we ate and drank, and was unfailingly polite and helpful throughout our evening.
We only ordered mains, but my wife assures me that the Finnan Haddie was delicious, and I can offer a similar review of the Oran Mor Burger. The fries with truffle and parmesan were a great side order, and we left feeling full, satisfied and well looked-after.
We are back in Glasgow next week for a couple of days, so I think a return visit to Oran Mor is already looming large on the horizon!
Thanks for a great night guys, especially Megan and Lewis !!

Staff were rude and standoffish
May 2021 • Friends
Visited Oran mor for drinks outside. The server was extremely rude and seemed to have a vendetta against us as soon as we arrived. We spoke to the tables around us and they had a similar experience. We asked for food and were told "kitchen is closed". We then waited to order another round and were ignored by the waitress until she told us last orders had been called (no one came to ask us if we'd like another drink). Honestly just such a shame. All we wanted was to have a nice night celebrating being with friends after 9 months of lockdown. The experience we had at Oran Mor really brought down the night and we left in low spirits. Many friendlier places in glasgow to go for drinks outside.

"Square Go" by staff member
Sep 2020 • Couples
This just beggers belief. A staff member challenged us for no reason expect she knew we were talking about her. Girl with thin blonde hair looking for a fight...!! What is happening...??? This girl should not be in hospitality but in the ring..!!! Colin if you check these reviews sort this out. This would not happen in a Stefan establishment. Honestly "People make Glasgow", not tonight and not with Fraser in charge. Again needs to be reviewed. I know we are living in strange times but rudeness and potential threats should not be experienced when enjoying a day out.. !!!

I surely don't know what happened yesterday night. I am Swiss and only visited the church for some last drinks. For what I read it has not a good reputation as restaurant.
Good luck

It is a licensed premise which sells alcohol, so as long as the people are over 18 then it should be okay.

Are kids allowed?

Hi there, Children are allowed in our John Muir Room (conservatory) provided the party are ordering food. We have a dedicated children's menu.
Upstairs in the Auditorium, children under 18 are permitted until midnight at a private function and 10pm if it's a public event. For A Play, A Pie and a Pint, it's advisable to check in advance for suitability to avoid disappointment on the day. Hope that helps. If you need any other information, please call or email us via the links above. Deborah (Team Oran Mor)

Is there seating at gigs at the venue?
Kathleen F
Glasgow, UK21 contributions
For the play and a pint there is seating. For the gigs there is very limited seating at the sides. Be aware these seats don't always have a good view. If a gig is seated it will say so on the website before you book.

Do you provide any vegan food options at events? - I'm going to a future event in the ballroom which I know will have a fixed 3 course meal menu, I presume there will be a veggie option on this menu but it's highly unlikely to be vegan - do I have any options or will I have to skip the food?
Deborah-OranMor

Hi Gill,
Indeed we do! If you call the number at the top of our listing here (Tripadvisor doesn't allow me to post the number directly in the answer, sorry) and ask for Fiona on the events team, she''ll check your event details for you and let you know what the vegan options are.
