We went along to a classical concert by an orchestra consisting of a very elderly mix of amateur and professional musicians conducted by an aged conductor. It was excruciating but passed an otherwise boring afternoon. The plus point was see the inside of Glasgow City Chambers. Magnificent and open to the public most days.

The City Chambers building is certainly worth a visit. An impressive building, its interiors are as grand as its façade. The only issue is that, even visiting the City Chambers on a quiet day, we found the free guided tour to be very weak. The guide was probably in a bad mood and wouldn't really provide much more info, just... More

I've been to George Square maybe seven times now, and I can tell you it's absolutely beautiful. The City Chambers (not that the council is worth much these days) are a fantastic example of Scotland's predominant form of architecture (Victorian). The Square's perimeter is peppered with statues commemorating Scotland's greatest heroes and achievers. A statue of Victoria herself presides in... More

This is a free attraction and well worth a visit, They have 2 tours a day. The building is quite impressive from the outside but even more impressive on the inside. Much of the interior is marble and there is a good quantity of beautiful wooden carving. I have to say a considerable cut above your average town hall. Our... More

I have been here twice now, and enjoyed both visits, each time a different guide - both excellent. No charge for tours which last around an hour. The inside foyer is breath taking and it just gets better. For fans of TV's Taggart it is amust, as it features in many episodes, or so I was reliably informed. Try an... More

This is an impressive administrative building that dominates George Square, where all the action in Glasgow seems to take place. It served as a very pretty background, especially in the evening, with the Square festooned with Christmas lights and also during the Commonwealth Games. I have not been inside the building, but it sure is grand from the outside, whatever... More

Awesome building that towers over George Square with the war memorial at its Base. A beautiful place to visit and one of the nicest parts of Glasgow in my opinion There is tour but it wasn't running when I visited Stephen it was Christmas.

Visited over Christmas 2016, the Victorian splendour is well worth a look, also had chance to sit in the council chamber which is the best I have ever seen! Tour is free and lasts about 40 mins.
