Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1901 and built in the attractive setting of Bellahouston Park in the 1990s, House for an Art Lover allows the visitor an insight into Mackintosh's renowned talent not just as an architect, but as a an artist, designer and pioneer of the Modern Movement. The venue runs regular arts themed events and is home to the popular Art Lover's Cafe.

Getting here requires a 15 minute walk from the subway (itself a treat) and is well worth it. A beautiful building and site which demonstrates nicely the genius of Mackintosh.

Pleasant location, easy parking and good well priced menu. We had a good meal, only disappointment was a pudding where the chefs interpretion of the described item left us a bit bemused.

Been planning to visit for quite some time and after the wait we were not disappointed. May not be original furniture etc. but this place is well worth seeing.

Check their website as it does weddings also and the exhibition changes its opening times upto a week at a time. The cafe has separate opening times and is open to the public more frequent.

Sorry I can answer your question. I was leading a tour, which means the bus driver got us there, with the help of a local who served as a private guide. I bet it's really beautiful there now that summer has arrived. Enjoy!
