I was here for the Passenger concert which was utterly brilliant. I thought the acoustics for the support act from where I was sitting were a bit odd, but the main act was superb. The view was great due to the raked seating, the seats were slightly cramped, and I had to leave my set about 45 minutes before the... More

Lovely venue. Great acoustics and quite comfy seats. I didn't have a drink there but heard it was a little steep.

My first visit to this venue since it was refurbished a good few years ago. Very impressed, looks great inside, bright and modern. As a music venue it is brilliant, it feels quite intimate but in fact holds a fair crowd. The acoustics are amazing. The seating is excellent, comfy and for a change plenty of leg room. The bar... A beautiful theatre/opera house. Recently overhauled it is quite beautiful. Good facilities. Plenty room in the auditorium

Prokofiev played by the RSNO was exquisite. However, especially for such a prestigious venue, the wine served was dreadful.

Attended the fantastic John Carpenter gig at Usher Hall in October. We were seated towards the front of the upper balcony but despite being quite far away from the stage we had a fantastic view and the acoustics were great. The seating was a little cramped but other than that, fab venue and gig.

We attended here for the first time to see The master of horror John Carpenter on the 22 October 2016. Plenty of private parking a stones throw from the venue, bars and pubs aplenty too. With regards to the Usher Hall, a beautiful venue, lovely acoustics. Pretty much unrestricted views of the stage no matter where you are sat, from... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
