The view from the Calton Hill where the Nelson Monument is a lovely place for views of central Edinburgh. The Nelson Monument has a large ball on top that was raised and dropped at 1 o'clock but don't think works now. Always like walking there...More

On entering The Nelson Monument you are given a leaflet that gives the history of Monument and that of The Scott Monument, therefore it can be studied at one's leisure. There is a Museum one can visit before the climb to the top and gives...More

Nelson Monument is a tall telescope shaped monument to Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson Victory and death in 1805. It is a climb up Calton Hill, but you get a great view of the City Center of Edinburgh and the Castle. Winter hours (10-1-3/31) are Monday...More

It may seem a bit expensive just to climb a tower but the views from the top are well worth it as they are breathtaking.

A good place to watch Edinburgh from above, but it is a little bit too expensive for what it offer. Compared with other monuments it is not so convenient.

The views are just excellent at the top of the tower, great way to see the city! The little museum was fun and informative. Worth the five pounds I thought. Unfortunately they don't take debit cards, they were even a little snarky about that which...More

Claims to take payment by credit card but doesn't actually have the facility. Disappointing. Staff were unhelpful, rude and useless - just shrugged their shoulders. Best avoided.

Wasn't really interest in the tiny exhibition so whizzed through that, was only interested in going to the top of the tower. That alone was worth the entry fee. The door at the top is pretty barrow but once there the views are awesome being...More

Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to
malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton
have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a
mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village
found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything
but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street;
even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and
art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The
