great walk along the Leith Waterway with beautiful wooded path to follow, lovely even in November, we were lucky to experience a beautiful blue sky day even though temps were in the 40 degree Fahrenheit range.

It's worth checking out Dean Village but there's not a great deal of info, and nothing to actually visit. Also, it can get very busy with people looking at the view.

An ideal way to spend a quiet hour on a nice day; yet so near to the city centre, a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle

Now there's nothing to do here, it really is just a lovely walk out of the city. The houses are really pretty and there is a really nice river that you can walk along to get back into the city. A nice hour or two...More

Walked back from Murrayfield to our hotel in Stockbridge via this fantastic riverside walk. Walking alongside the water you get a completely different perspective of the city and its not so well publicised communities Beware the pathway can get very slippy with wet leaves.

A hidden path that takes you outside the hustle and bustle and along a lovely river for a bit of tranquility.

My husband, daughters and I walked from downtown Edinburgh to Dean Village. It is certainly peaceful and picturesque, particularly on the path near the water leading toward the modern art museum.

Lovely little village. Nothing at all to do there but enjoy the silence, the running water and the stunning little place it is. If you want to escape the rush in town then go check it out. It’s gorgeous.

Such a lovely walk which ends up taking you onto Stock bridge . If you take a walk on a Sunday you can then go to the market which is also very good

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

This is easily walked, no public transport needed. But just a note about public transportation in Edinburgh, it is fantastic. Buses will get you anywhere, the tram will get you from and to the Edinburgh Airport easily and... More
