This was thoroughly enjoyable for all the family, Grandparents to children all had fun. The Camera Obscurer on the top floor was the highlight. Staff were very friendly. One draw back is that there are a lot of stairs if you have mobility issues and...More

Five levels of optical tricks and illusions, easy to access close the to the castle and even though it is very popular not too crowded to actually have fun interacting with the various exhibits.

Something for all age groups to make you smile, laugh and think. Silly mirrors, or mirrors thta make you look silly, holograms, mazes were all good fun but most of all the room that ‘changes your size’ was excellent. Great views over the city from...More

The place brings out the kid in you. Even some of the more simplistic tricks and illusions will leave you mesmerised for a couple of moments. Do not miss the show on the top floor, conducted by well-informed charming staff members.

There is a lot of history to see in Edinburgh and Camera Obscura is a fun, modern, yet old, place to visit. We were 4 adults, and spent about 2:30 - 3 hours here.

On a rainy day Camera Obscura provided us with 3 hours of family fun and some knowledge too. The kids loved the mirror maze and the Vortex, and the Camera Obscura show with Holly was enlighting despite the grey weather that clouded the images. This...More

Visited in August so very busy and would maybe suggest staggering the crowds as it was very cramped and a lot of people pushing in, very friendly staff. A good activity but visited on a misty day so couldn’t appreciate the dark roomMore

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly

that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
