Visited the Malt Shovel with a friend on a Tuesday afternoon we both chose the Steak and Belhaven pie which was tasty and filling. Fantastic but discreet service added to a very enjoyable day out. Well done to both kitchen and service staff. Will return.

Great bar and atmosphere, fine spirit selection and some great Scottish beers. The downside is the Food , menu is ok but poorly executed, the pub suffers from it's own popularity for dinning as seating is limited.

Another traditional pub in Edinburgh’s old town, this one with a more Edwardian feel to it. We opted for Black Isle lager and sat in the window seat watching people walking up and down Cockburn Street.

Traditional Scottish pub with a nice atmosphere. Reasonable price. Large selection of whisky. Excellent position between the Royal mile and Waverley station.

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
