Agree with previous reviews that this is a lovely peaceful place with beautiful views but surely it is time that travel books and guides are updated to say the sculptures have gone.We were fortunate to see them when they were there but met three couples on our visit today who had all visited along with guide books to see them.

Somewhat difficult to find as poorly signposted, we weren't even sure we had the car park right as it appeared to be attached to someones driveway. Not a massive amount to see in the way of sculptures as the Glenkiln Cross is the only one remaining. However, if you fancy a bit of a hike then it's good fun. Came... More

Well, they're gone... after a big build up and missing them on last holiday arrived to discover only two sculptures remaining, the Glenkiln Cross and Reclining Figure, which is a substitute. Might it be good to put models in place for missing originals? Landscape still brilliant and came on Kirkpatrick Durham which is lovely, so there are compensations ... but... More

we were up on holiday to the Dumfries area and found the Glenkiln sculpture walk in our guide book so organised a trip to do the walk and see the wonderful sculptures. The directions took us easily to the carpark and we set off in search of the sculptures, looking in vain, blaming our poor visual skills, our map reading... More

Brilliant place for a bit of gentle exercise. Hard roads, no traffic, fresh air, brilliant views, birds, animals, streams and flowers and is is all FREE. Take a picnic, the statues may have gone, all but two, but the countryside is the best. A good getaway not far from the town.

How I miss the king and queen. They used to sit regally over the landscape. We visited often, but this time, they were gone. Ephemeral. Now just a memory. There is no reason to visit now.

A real shame that the very object(s) of our visit were missing, and the area is poorer for that. Strangely for us, we just trusted the hotels guide book and not the Internet for research. To our great dismay we found our visit wasted, because of the modern way that is to strip and steal everything and anything which is... More

Only 2 statues remaining - the Glenkiln cross, which is on top of a hill and would be difficult to steal, and Henry Moore's Two Piece Reclining Figure No. 1 which is fibreglass (possibly a recent replacement). Perhaps the rest could/will be replaced by fibreglass replicas thus restoring the walk to its former glory. Even without the statues it was... More

This place was very unusual with the sculptures scattered about the moorland and the peace and tranquillity that goes with it. It is a shame that the sculptures have had to be removed after one was stolen but maybe that is a reflection of the way the world has changed. It is still a very nice place to have a... More
