Went here with a friend who lives in the Borders, great selection of Scottish goods well laid out but my partner was more than happy with her purchase of 2 all weather macs in the reduced section. It is well worth a visit, ideal for early Christmas present shopping.

Stopped off to see if I could find a tartan tie for a Christmas present. Got a lovely cashmere jacket for me instead (in the sale, even better). Lots of lovely quality Scottish knitwear, tweeds and tartan. Some rather expensive, but some bargains too. Helpful staff and a small cafe with home-style baking. Worth the stop

We took a tour of the "factory". So interesting! Saw how various tartans are woven. Learned a little about the process. I am a bit obsessed with fabric, so this appealed to me. The shop was fun; they also have a 'seconds' shop, as well.

We took a side trip from Edinburgh, on the way to Stirling. We ate soups while we waited for the tour at 1:30pm. A large group was arriving for the same tour, and the manager took pity on us and arranged a tour just for the 4 of us. The tour was an hour long, and was very educational for... More

We had an excellent outing with a coffee break first before taking the Mill Tour which is a working mill. The coffee shop and staff were excellent and served us quickly with a good choice of cake, scones, etc The tour was very good with the Headsets which were needed to hear the guide over the noise of the machinery.

Stopped here for a quick coffee and decided to have a sandwich too. Good selection to choose from. Lady asked if we would like them plated up with salad, crisps or tortillas. Everything was fresh and brought to our table. Good food, reasonably priced and good service. We would stop here again if passing through Selkirk.

We visited the Lochcarron visitor centre to buy some gifts. The lovely smell of Starbucks coffee and the tempting range of delicious cakes on offer, we were lucky to claim the last table and enjoyed the food and it was excellent value. Next time when in the Scottish Borders will try and fit a tour of the mill.

I cannot comment on the coffee shop and the main shop seemed much the same as many other typical Scottish tourist traps - but the tour was most interesting.

This truly is an experience - a beautiful shop with outstanding quality goods from clothing to crafts to cards - lots of tartan, mohair and cashmere. There is a Mill tour each Monday to Thursday from 10.30am every hour until 2.30pm or you can call and make an appointment. You can view the complete proocess of garments being made from... More
