Springbank Distillery is one of the main visitor attractions in Campbeltown, Kintyre. It is one of three distilleries remaining in Campbeltown which, in the 19th century, was classed as 'The Whisky Capital of the World'. Established in 1828, Springbank is the oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland and is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out the full production process on one site - from the traditional floor maltings through to the bottling.

This is a great experience you shouldn't miss if you're in Campbeltown. The distillery has a wonderful mindset re: creating local jobs and keeping to the traditions of yesteryear, which produce some of the finest whisky around. Spring for one of the tours that gets you to Glengyle and a chance to have some of the higher end varieties, you... More

Springbank Distillery is one of three distilleries left in Campbeltown, once the "Whisky Capital of the World" with 28 distilleries. The adventure begins at the Cadenhead's Whisky Shop where one signs up for one or more of a set of whisky-related adventures. There are four tours to choose from ranging in price from £7 to £100. We opted for a... More

This distillery is a must visit. We were the only two on the tour and the young male tour guide was very informative and friendly. This is a small family distillery and should be supported. The small dram and free miniature of springbank whisky was very much welcomed at the end of the tour. If you are a whisky buff... More

The whisky is amazing, and if you visit the distillery you will understand why. Every single aspect of the production is done as it uses to be in 1800.the your is one hour so, full of infos. Mitch, the guide is a ledge and very up to the job.

I've been to a few distillery's it would be fair to say. I enjoyed visiting Springbank as it was authentic and the owner had not wanted to change things from the way they made it years ago. Felt real and artisan. A beautiful drop and well worth the journey down from Oban while we were staying for the week. A... More

Can't recommend this enough! My partner and I visited the distillery because we couldn't find anything else to do in the area but what a wonderful tour. The tour guide was impressively knowledgeable about the whole whisky-making process and at the end we got to taste 4 drams and got to take away two whisky miniatures - all for £7... More

Springbank is the most traditional distillery in Scotland, with the owners steadfastly refusing to modernize in order to keep the over 70 employees in work. You can see the whole process of malting and distillation. The warehouse tasting was an utter delight!

Absolutely brilliant and I have been on many whisky distillery tour. The old fashioned traditional way with not a computer in site which provides I was told 70 jobs for Campbeltown. Air conditioning required? Then open a window. Fascinating. Do not make a trip to Campbeltown without a visit. Well priced tour.
