This is one of the most amazing railway journeys anyone could expect to travel on whether they are boarding at Belfast, Derry or any of the stops in between. Threatened with closure less than twenty years ago this line was completely modernised in recent years and had its rolling stock completely replaced with Spanish CAF engines. The line is run... Our train home this evening from Belfast passing by our hotel - the Inn at the Coast (after we got off in Coleraine and drove back). These trains are fast smooth and on time.

Really enjoyed our trip on the train from Coleraine to Londonderry and back. The views are lovely, and you get an excellent perspective of the coastline running along the beach and through tunnels beside the cliffs near Downhill transitioning into wide fields around the estuary of the river on the way into Londonderry. We took the free bus from the... More

Have to agree with another reviewer - I don't know what all the fuss is about. We have travelled extensively in the British Isles and elsewhere in Europe and the scenery is not stunning, or any of the other views that were mentioned. We waited and waited for the spectacular scenery, and it just didn't deliver for us. There are... More

Lovely river and sea views en route. Courtesy bus from to train station to town and back is very handy!

I read that this was a scenic journey, and I sort of waited for it to get beautiful for a while...and then it was STUNNING. Worth the extra few dollars to take the train (as opposed to a bus) for this journey.

Another journey by train from Londonderry to Colerain today but still unable to see the beauty others have seen and I am very proud of our wonderful scenery in Northern Ireland. Today was grey and dismal but even in good weather it just looks like a lot of mud flats, must contact Michael Palin to see if he can put... More

And it's not just me saying that. It's none other than the intrepid, former conservative MP, Mr. michael Portillo. The train departs from the Waterside station in Duke Street, site of the famous anti- internment rally, led by internationally known MPs John Hume, Ivan Cooper and Eddie McAteer. When they reached the West end of the bridge they were attacked... More

It may be a slow train journey, but life's too fast, just sit back, look out the window and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Whether it's looking out at the bay or at the inland cliffs, you will enjoy it

This is a must if travelling into city if you have time. It's not the quickest nor is it the fastest but the slow train passing some of the best view you will see on any train journey. It is truly wonderful when passing the fields and beaches. When I was younger the journey was so magical and to this... More
