You can walk the walls by yourself but with a guide you learn all the interesting facts. The city views are worth the steps up. You get a very good view of all the murals painted on the different buildings.

You can do this on your own or better with a local guide that can offer the color and detail insight of the history from a personal perspective Well worth seeing and walking along with the Sunday memorial and museum

I have been on the walk twice and I would highly recommend and visitor to Derry to walk along and look at the paintings. These depict such monumental events in Irish history and need to be appreciated. I suggest going up onto the wall and...More

A walk around the Derry wall is a short walk through history with contrast, incongruence and awkward juxtaposition thrown in. It’s not comfortable but a journey through recent history that must not be repeated. It is also a pleasant stroll from market to shop. Incredibly...More

One may enjoy just a simple walk on the wall around the city to see the churches, cemeteries, canons, and distant views of the surrounding area. There are signs along the way to explain things, and there are benches periodically. Another option is to hire...More
