This is a lovely modern bridge just for walkers and cyclists and looks lovely lit up in the evening. There are seats along its length so you can sit and look over the river and weir. Well used bridge by locals and tourists alike.

The Lagan weir is a series of massive steel barriers which are used to keep the River Lagan at an artificially constant level during low tide. Otherwise the river mudflats are exposed and were considered unsightly as well as emitted a strong odour, particularly in the summer months. This is free to visit and gives you lovely views of the Lagan River. It also provides access to both sides of the river, and is useful if walking to the Titanic Quarter from Belfast City or vice versa.

Lagan Weir is not only a pedestrian bridge but also an engineering solution to keep the level of the river artificially constant. This helped to avoid mudflats and excluded a strong smell because of them. It also helped to improve the water quality and the environment around the river. Very neat solution! …
