A substantial climb to the top as the paths were very muddy and slippery but do it in your own time and enjoy the wonderful views along the way and at the top it's breathtaking. A much easier descent down the other side on larger...More

I have lived in Belfast for 40 years and have at last climbed to McArts Fort and Cave Hill. A good walk through the forest and then the hills. Get your steps in and also get very rewarding views of Belfast and Belfast Lough. Parked...More

A nice walk up to the cave with fantastic views over Belfast . The long walk is too long for young kids. Our walk took about an hour . Recommend Bringing light snack/ water for journey .

A great place to stretch the legs for an hour or more depending on how much time you've got. An easy to follow route to the top, follow the beaten track and you can't go wrong. On a nice day you will have a stunning...More

I have been up and down and in and around Cave Hill in all sorts of weather and it is a great spot for everything from a relaxing Sunday walk, to an active uphill run.

I have been up and around Cave Hill about 5 times now and each one has been a beautiful experience and I have found new wee walk ways and views each time. I have been up in the blistering heat and in the lashing rain,...More

wow. amazing spot for a romantic walk with your loved one or friends. Great spot for picnics (just clean up after yourself). It can get a little windy but the sunrise can also be spotted really well and its incredible.

Easy to get to by public transportation and well worth it. The walk is easy if you are reasonably fit, and there is a circular route to take. Wear sturdy shoes and give yourself time. The weather changed on us, and we were all glad...More

Starting at the castle, walk up the signposted pathway. To be honest, it's a bit of a hoof to get there but on a nice day it'll be worth it. There's another way to the top if you Google it. Drive your car in from...More

A pleasant walk for the semi-fit with great views from the summit - tracks can be a little tricky so come prepared. Rewarded by coffee and cake afterwards in the Castle.

While doable, I don't think it is worth the headache. It's a steep walk and not always smooth underfoot. Sturdy shoes, drinking water, and back up waterproofs if the weather changes is what you should be considering.
