Be aware, you will get sand in your car, but so long as your aware of this - go enjoy body rolling down the big sandy hill (or at least let your kids do it) then wander towards the beach in a mire of peaked sand dunes - within 5 mins of parking the car - your in another place,... More

Please, no, we don't want you to go there - it's far too gorgeous to share. One of the biggest dunescapes in Europe, they filmed Lawrence of Arabia there (so somebody once told me), kids will love it - take a sled, whizz down 'the big dipper' - adults will adore it, (fantastise that you're in the Nevada desert), dogs... Warning though: it is a bit of a hike to get there (about a 30 minute walk from the car park) but it is well worth it once you arrive at the destination as you get rewarded with stretches of glorious coastline (without... A great place to take the children. They can fun running up and down the sand dunes, or climbing up and sliding down. there are castle ruins there as well.

Accessed by travelling through the quaint village of thatched cottages at Merthyr Mawr, the dunes and carpark, along with the castle ruins are to be found at the very end of the road. Although there is ample parking, you do have to pay, which is a great shame. The complex of dunes is one of the largest and highest in... More

If you like walking and want to test your fitness level then this is for you, has a strong connection with the film Lawrence of Arabia some of it was said to have been filmed there. Also there is a strong connection with the local prisoner of war camp break out just down the road just off the A48 known... More

I love this place. From the cottages and the Manor House on the way in its very pretty. Could be a lovely place for a good Glamorgan cream tea. The car park can get busy on sunny weekends and yes you do have to pay to park. But you can park near the church and walk a little further if... More

What a jewel in our back yard. Excellent walks and day out here. Went as a kid and would go again. Ideal dog walking too.
