More stunning views
Jul 2021
We did the easy circular walk from the car park and really enjoyed it. Stunning views from the Cotswold escarpment to Pen-y- Fan, and the Malverns to the north. Lots of interesting things to see on the hill itself - the famous Foxhunter's grave, and the remains of one of Churchill's ' Resistance' shelters near the wireless station. Highly recommended.

Ascent from Abergavenny side challenging but rewarding
Jun 2021 • Couples
A fantastic walk with stunning views and such a beautiful surprise in the Punchbowl halfway up the hill. I’m told it dries out sometimes but when we went there had been recent rain and it was full of tadpoles and damselflies and a family of Canada geese.
We ascended from Abergavenny which is a significantly more challenging (longer and steeper) route than many of these reviews - so be sure you’re aware of your group’s ability and select your start point accordingly. The alternative is from Keeper’s Pond (Pen ffordd goch) on the other side which is a gentle slope which begins far higher up the hill.

Great walk
Oct 2020 • Couples
Invigorating walk with dogs. Good car park and dogs allowed off the lead between August and May so they had a fabulous time. Footpath relatively easy and you are soon at the top of the mountain looking at wonderful views as far as the eye can see. Fantastic!

Great views

Lovely circular walk, on mostly flat ground. Beautiful views all round with many friendly sheep grazing. Free parking at several places just off the road. Well worth a visit.

Blorenge circular walk
Jun 2020
Did the circular walk earlier this week. Left from Keepers pond - took 4 hours including a 15 minute lunch break. Moderate difficulty - lunched at the Punchbowl lake near Llanfoist which is a fantastic little spot to have a relax. Steep climb from there that eventually gets easier as you head towards summit. Beautiful scenery throughout the walk. Highly recommended. For those that want a quick visit to the summit, you can park at the Foxhunter car park and then it a 34/40 minute trek there and back. On the walk, we did see the start of the wimberry growth - will try and go back and pick some in late July / early August - haven't done that since being a teenager!!

Gorgeous views
Oct 2019 • Couples
This was a much easier hike than I expected, as the entire walk around the mountain was mostly flat. There were beautiful views the entire time of the surrounding area, with sheep and wild horses grazing around the mountain. It was incredible. There was lots of free parking and it was right off the highway so it was easy to get to.

Great walk - great views
Oct 2019
We walked across the shoulder of the Blorenge on 3 Oct 19. The weather was kind and the views were great looking west along the valley to Crickhowell. The views of Abergavenny are particularly good. We enjoyed walking along the old tramroad that took iron from the works at Blaenavon to the canal at Llanfoist. The industrial heritage made this walk even more interesting and at the foot of the incline - which is just above the canal there is a set of carts that were used to take the iron down the hill to the barges below.

A Stunning view rewards the effort
Sep 2019 • Couples
We parked at Keepers Pond and followed Country files directions. They gave good instructions aswell as what to look out for in the area. Their walk is just under 7 miles and includes some steep climbs and stoney paths. The scenery is stunning. A few sheep to look out for but the dog was mostly able to be off lead. The Punchbowl lake is a beautiful scene, if you fancy a cold swim take your cosy. No facilities.

Easy stroll with great views
Aug 2019 • Friends
We arrived from the Blaenavon side of the mountain at the Foxhunter car park. There is a gentle walk to the top where there were mountain ponies along the path as well as a copious supply of whinberries to pick and stretched way over to neighbouring counties. Well worth the visit.
