Dirty, overpriced, confusing, waste of money
Jun 2021 • Family
Dirty, outdated, waste of money. Paid £25 for 3x adults and 1x child. Absolute rip off! Homemade dinosaurs and plastic shop brought dinosaurs??? Very dirty, dusty and outdated. A "cinema" up the stairs and past some (What looks like A level art projects) playing a dinosaurs documentary from the 80s, very blurry?? Its a very ridiculous, not worth the money, very below standard, you can buy stones throughout the 2 floors, just strung about in boxes without labels. Rusty screws and DIY tools left lying on the "exhibitions". Information printed onto really small cars and soo faded due to age can barely read. Very oversold on the website. Waiting 45 minutes to go in the gift shop due to the owner chatting about random facts etc. Very excited but sadly not worth the money!!! £25 very overpriced, would pay around £1 per person. Spiders and cobwebs everywhere, very dissapointed! Was very excited to go! 4 year old kept asking to go home because they were bored!

Museum packed full of an amazing array of natural treasures with something for everyone. Friendly staff, enthusiastic and helpful owner with a wealth of knowledge that he is happy to share. Enjoy!

Thoroughly recommended
Aug 2020
What a treasure trove of fossils, minerals and native artefacts! If you or your children are budding scientists (or just like rare exhibits) then this is a worthwhile stopover. Just make sure you use the details on their website to find them and not just the postcode, or you'll end up down a country lane (like we did!). It's a really nice stop over and close to other attractions. The people who run it a very friendly and knowledgable. They have a great gift shop too! Thoroughly recommended.

Always an amazing visit
Aug 2020
Once again, a fantastic visit with plenty to see (and buy!). I've been visiting this museum on and off for over 30 years, first with my wife, then as a family with my kids, last year with our grandchildren and yesterday with one of my daughters.
There's always plenty to catch one's imagination and the shop at the end has plenty of interesting objects at pocket money prices, as well as some more expensive tempting fossils.
Come with an open mind and enjoy a chat with the owner at the end, who engages children and adults with his knowledge.
Best place in N Wales in my opinion.

Wonderful morning out of the rain
Aug 2020 • Family
Excellent morning in this treat of a museum that is packed with fascinating items. The kids in particular loved this place, browsing the myriad objects and even asking the very informative (and patient) owner lots of questions. The museum is what might be considered ‘old school’ but that is one of the things that makes it so special. The museum has good physical distancing measures (due to Covid-19) especially if guests are able to use some common sense. Don’t forget to visit the cave. The shop is a treasure trove of reasonably priced stones and fossils that will suit most children’s pocket money allowances. Thanks for a lovely morning. If the museum is busy you may be asked to wait outside in your car for a short while. Card payments accepted.

Quirky local attraction run by geology obsessive
Feb 2020
If you like an eccentric local attraction as much as we do you will love Stone Science. Our big group of kids really enjoyed doing the quiz and the gift shop is extraordinary. The chap who set it up didn’t buy most of the exhibits in the museum - he found them himself! Well worth a visit

A huge collection of fossils and stones
Oct 2019 • Family
We came not knowing what to expect. From the outside, the building gives no clue to what lies inside. A mammoth (literally!) collection of fossils, crystals and other geological wonders will amaze and intrigue the children.
A huge amount of time and effort has gone into the information sheets that accompany the displays, even though they are somewhat dated. The proprietor is knowledgable and friendly (so is his dog Zac!) and there is a gift shop with something to suit everyone’s budget!

Well worth a visit

Wonderfully stocked with interesting exhibits this little museum was well worth a visit. The gift shop is sensibly stocked with appropriate mementos of Crystals and rocks and not over loaded with plastic made in China. Lots to see and learn here and a free return visit within a fortnight.

Thank you for your kind words, we try our best to make everyone welcome. I'm sorry that I probably wasn't there to meet you personally but my wife and I were so tired after the Summer season that when offered a holiday in France we decided we must go. Perhaps we will meet sometime. Best wishes, Dave

Well worth a visit
Aug 2019 • Family
The young chap who helps run this place was amazing, enthusiastic and really knows his stuff. And the owner who runs the shop clearly lives and breathes stones, fossils and crystals, and has travelled the world in search of them. The displays rival any of the big city museums I’ve seen. Well worth the admission in my opinion. My boys 7 and 3 enjoyed it too

Amazing place!
Aug 2019 • Family
Visited with husband, daughter & grandson(7yrs ) & elderly mother during a wet &breezy lunchtime. We spent abt 2hrs wandering around the quirky musuem & cave..full of gems ,fossils ,stones, artifacts,bones,skulls..&much more.

Aaron who worked in the museum was a mine of information about the amazing range of exhibits &very friendly & helpful.
We spent ages in the equally amazing shop ,packed full of gems ,stones etc etc to buy at very inexpensive prices. Grandson bought a bison jawbone with teeth (170.000 yrs old) £10, &some clay pipes ,over 100yrs old (£1.50 each).Mr Wilson who owns the museum has been collecting the exhibits for many years. He was helpful & obviously has a wealth of information to share.
Well worth a visit😊
