Ellins Tower is part of the RSPB Reserve. In the spring and early summer it is a great place to watch the nesting seabirds on the cliffs. Binoculars and telescopes are available to use free of charge. The Tower is manned by staff and volunteers. Reserve open all year round, Ellins Tower Easter - end September.

Really super geography. A pity there aren't more funds invested in the fabric of the building(could only see the outside as it's still closed for the Winter). The outside was in need of care and attention, but the view overtakes the down side to the...More

Run by the rspb this should be taken in on any trip to South Stack. Lots of information on local and migrating birds and one of the best vantage points to observe them

Ellin's Tower is a great look out tower to watch the birds and it is run by the RSPB. You can watch the Puffins, guillemots and the seals out to sea. There is a guide present to answer questions about the wildlife which is very...More

We visited the Tower as South Stacks Lighthouse was closed for the season. Well worth a visit. Very friendly and informative RSPB staff man the Tower.

Not a lot to actually do inside here but a decent respite from the wind and the lady from the RSPB was very informative.More

We came to the Ellins Tower Visitor Centre midday on a Saturday and for some reason the centre was closed, there was no signage or warning which was slightly disappointing. Despite this, the visitor centre does provide a brilliant vantage point for the South Stack...More

This is where you'll be able to use binoculars to see all the surrounding area and hopefully some interesting things. I was lucky enough that porpoise were around when I was there. The RSPB staff are lovely and helpful and patient too.

Nice piece of history though it looks like a nasty modern day mini castle. Didn't get chance to go inside as it wasn't wheelchair accessible - fantastically blusterful day and sighting of birds were at a premium - but as an aged building left for...More

Inside Ellins Tower there are binoculars and a telescope for your use. Unfortunately it was a quiet 'bird' and 'sea life' day, but the views were stunning. Also a RSPB staff member was happy to answer any questions.

I would have thought so as there are no live birds inside. it's mainly a Viewing point. the car park is close by to leave dog in if necessary. not seen signs to contrary.
