I went here with my Hubby on a Tuesday afternoon. The premises are easily accessible off the main road. There is a free car park. We didn't go into the Cafe as other reviewers have said it was too expensive. We didn't go on the self-guided tour as we thought the charge of £10.50 was a little steep for us... More

We went specifically to the shop and found exactly what we were looking for. Quality produce and helpful advice. We did the tour many years ago and remember it was quite interesting. We also visited the adjoining cafe which was very busy and rather basic. Service slow due to the bank holiday I guess, but staff were friendly and the... More

Visited today to buy some offcuts for of slate for an urgent job. Told offcuts of slate outside in yard were all spoken for and that we would have to order what we wanted and it would only be available to collect after Christmas. A condescending male - not gentleman told us this is not a supermarket.! We thought we... More

Thanks for your comments. You called in and asked for a tape to measure some slate outside, and you were told that only slates with prices displayed were for sale as other slates in the yard were reserved for specific jobs. You did not ask what exactly you required at this time. You came back and said you had found... More

An absolute gem of a place! In a time when an overbearing health and safety brigade, seek to sterilise the world around us, allowing those that evade the rules of natural selection to continue walking amongst us, the Inigo Jones Slate Works is a refreshing insight into the past, where common sense prevailed and children learned to look where they... It's always lovely to visit a place that hasn't been overrun by the health and safety police. Seeing the slate yard as it would be throughout its history is refreshing. Perhaps we would feel differently if we didn't have any common sense or had unruly children running around. We had the pleasure of watching a chap cutting slate. The audio... More

We visited on a wet afternoon during a 2 day break in North Wales. We had passed through 'slate country' and were looking forward to finding out more about the history and processes involved in slate mining. Oh dear! The only positive comment is that the shop seemed well organised with decent quality goods on display. We took the £5... More

Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit but you should have asked for assistance if you could not work your MP3 player. We of course meet all current health and safety legislation. More

Nice fresh coffee, but very costly if you add food. One Welsh cake £1.00 ! Toasted teacake £2.50! OK if you're desperate!

Samuel Johnson said about the Giants Causeway that it was worth seeing but not worth going to see. Unfortunately this slate works was somewhere that was not worth going to see at all. It is very very rare that I write anything bad about any business and I would always try and give the benefit of the doubt but there... More

Went thinking we would see slate being dug out of the ground, but it's more about processing it. The buildings take you back to years long gone and I don't think the "Health and Safety" people would allow some of the conditions around the place today. You can see just how hard the work would have been. They do give... More
