Nestling at the foot of the Malvern Hills, Malvern Theatres is a major centre for the arts in the West Midlands. Home of the famous Malvern Festivals, founded by Bernard Shaw and Barry Jackson in 1929, the theatre underwent a lottery-funded refurbishment in 1997. Hailed both locally and nationally as a model of artistic and architectural excellence, Malvern Theatres boasts one of the most diverse selection of plays, music, comedy, dance, film and education work to be found under a single roof anywhere in the country.

We love our Malvern theatre experiences and have never been disappointed, until now that is. Our previous experience of Carmen was the lavish production at the O2 with the RPO but surprisingly we found it lacked the intimacy we were looking for. It was time to put it right having booked tickets for Carmen in a theatre we love because... More

Dear tubawolves, I'm very disappointed to read that you did not enjoy Carmen on Thursday evening. As a receiving house, we unfortunately don't have any input on the artistic side of a production but I'm very sorry if your opinion of the opera has reflected badly upon the theatre as a whole. I will pass your comments on to the... More

The entrance is clean and modern with plenty of space. Bar, coffee and snacks sensibly separated. Plenty of toilets which are clean and in good working order. Seats are slightly uncomfortable after a long time bit think there are plans to upgrade. A lovely place with a good selection of entertainment.

Dear GloucesterWiz, Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review. It's great to read your views of the theatre and you are quite right regarding our plans to refresh the seating. We are currently fundraising to replace all 850 seats in the Festival Theatre, which when complete in 2018 will lead to extra-comfy viewing of the... More

We attended here to see a traveling production of the Nutcracker for the matinee. The theatre is housed in a larger multi purpose building also incorporating a cinema, so make sure you are aware which part of the complex you are attending. The production was good, the theatre is a small intimate venue and seats are comfortable and well laid... More

Dear SF701, Thank you very much for your review and for choosing to join us for the ballet last Sunday. I'm sure you will agree, it's wonderful to be able to see these productions in an intimate setting like the Festival Theatre. You almost feel like you are part of the performance! We travel all the way from Leamington Spa to the Malvern Theatres several times a year, as they often have shows that just don't come to our nearby theatres. This time we arrived for a performance of the music from Wolf Hall, conducted by the composer, Debbie Wiseman, with readings from the book. Lovely evening, and how sad that the... More

Dear Peter H, I'm so pleased to read that you had a lovely evening at The Music of Wolf Hall. It is a shame it wasn't full but there is something quite special about being one of a select few watching a wonderful performance. We look forward to welcoming you back to Malvern Theatres soon. Great productions, does lack parking and the staff are friendly. A great place to go for a night out! Always look up and see what's going on.

We enjoy live theatre and find the intimate atmosphere at the Festival Theatre relaxing. This time we saw 'The Verdict' and were very impressed by the cast and story. I will be recommending the theatre to all my friends and have taken out membership as the range of shows on offer is amazing.

I always enjoy visits to the Malvern Theatre, we just dread parking. The main theatre has average seating but the smaller theatre inside has seats that are so tiny, the big man sat next to me was overflowing into my space.

I have bene to this place lots of times but never thought to review it until now. I went to watch "The Verdict" the other night with Clive Mantel and Jack Shepherd.
