Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning! It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds. It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

We visited on a Saturday morning . There' is a reasonable collection of exotic fish, lizards, snakes, birds and butterflies. My 7 year old granddaughter enjoyed the rainforest area best. It was very busy and we did not really get time to properly enjoy the...More

Tropical World is always a great visit. The animals/fish/insects/birds etc always seem well cared for and happy. Lots to see and entertain all the family. Parking can be tricky at peak times. If you're visiting without children I would recommend avoiding school holidays and weekends...More

The queues on arrival were pretty horrific and the staff were at a loss on how to dissipate them. When we eventually got to pay, the entrance fee was extremely cheap. We spent a few hours here and all the children in our party were...More

Great day in the winter as it is really tropical. The meerkats are a treat to watch. Lots of other things to do and see. Nice café outside.

What a fantastic day out we had. For just £6, it was so big and so much to see. Plenty of fish and aquariums, even a crocodile to look at. The monkeys were cute and we caught feeding time with the meerkats. There is more...More

Four mature adults visited and had a great time in a first class attraction. You get what it says on the tin and we found it faultless. Very well laid out with clear labling, it was quite busy - half term - but always room...More

Took family for yet another visit. Although been before on many occasions it still gives wonder to the family regardless of how old they all are. Good afternoon out to make a change when you want something quick and inexpensive to do

A great place to feel as if your in a tropical country, very warm & sweaty when looking at the plants/fish's & all the butterfly's flying around you before you visit the reptiles.

All of the tropical house is inside and the enclosures are very warm so even if its horrible outside I wouldn't wear to many layers.

Sorry for the delay in answering. Many of the flying birds, butterflies etc are free to fly around. Some of the bigger species are in cages/tanks.
