Entrance is now through a modern building which leads to an excellent museum with well labelled exhibits. Ride not the most scenic but an ex colliery line isn’t going to be, but the history makes up for it. The coaches pleasantly different to the average preserved line. Staff all very friendly. Line isn’t a collection of rusting relics like many... More

This cracking little railway is well worth a visit. It is one of Leeds' little hidden gems with lots of history attached

On a short break taking in a number of preserved railways, we chose to travel to the railway by bus from Leeds Centre to Dewsbury Rd. We walked towards the railway using brown traffic signs, unfortunately no pedestrian route was indicated for the final part of the journey. A sign attached to the perimeter fence would have made our visit... More

We visited as a means to break up a long drive from Harrogate to Derbyshire and it was a real treasure. The signposting isn't great, so check it out on google maps or others before you go, to make sure you spot it, but once there we had a lovely hour and half riding the train and pottering in the... The railway is about 10 minutes out of the centre of Leeds. I arrived by bus from the city centre and got off at Dewsbury Road then took the short walk down to the railway. Big brown signs pointing in the right direction. I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who advised of the small charge for a... More

The Middleton railway is a nice little railway but its not worth you traveling 100 miles unless your passing. I was there for the Hunslet 150 event it happened that i was traveling back to Newcastle from another railway. when we arrived and bored the train it was already running 45 minutes late and there was no chance of making... We enjoyed our short steam up the track to Middleton Park and back - in fact we did it twice. On the second trip, we got off and caught the next train back - time to walk to the park;s Information Centre and back. The Museum has plenty to look at with excellent information boards and shop and hot drinks.... More

First time to visit, a fantastic day out and cheap! Staff very friendly, well set up attraction. Kids had a great time, then a lovely walk up to Middleton Park to be met by a brass band playing and lovely refreshments/cake from the cafe. The kids then enjoyed a play at the park before walking back to catch the steam... More

Visited this little museum today, it was lovely, with great signposting and information on the history of the line and the stock it held for display. Free to visit the museum but worth putting in a donation. My other half who is the train enthusiast also picked up a few bargain second hand books which were for sale. Tea and... More
