Hidden gem

These little paths were great fun to walk along with the family. You see Leeds from a different angle, and it ain't half bad.

They must have spent a fortune developing this area of Leeds, near the Armouries & just outside the City centre. The place is virtually desserted, despite the council laying on water taxis. We walked for a look around, but where do you get a water taxi from? Such a shame, but this area was built without consideration for the nesesity... More

Lovely place to have a walk and eat a packed lunch. Some very nice canal views and loads of places to eat and drink - must go there!

Out of the way and isolated from the rest of the city centre. Unless you look for it, most people are unaware that it's there. At times it is like a ghost town. Thirty years ago there was nothing here but decay and dirt. Now it's clean modern and trying but failing to prosper and live. There's the royal armoires... More

We have been visiting Leeds for five years or more now, firstly with student children and more recently on business. We love the water front - there are miles of walking (or running) paths in both directions, lots of bars coffee shops and restaurants and some entertainment festivals. Just a shame currently that parts are inaccessible due to building works... More

I walk along Leeds waterfront a lot, most recently last weekend when Leeds Waterfront Festival was on. You've never heard of it? Not surprising really, the advertising for the event is appalling, at least the advertised buses were running this year (the ninth festival). Lots of good stuff happening, particularly for kids - for those who managed to find out... More

Clearly this part of town is now starting to see a little bit of investment and you can see this in the overall scheme of things. Weekends seem to be popular with families and you can see they are trying to attract customers away from Leeds. Overall a good afternoon out to waste a couple of hours or to park... More

My husband and I visited the waterfront yesterday with the plan being to walk from Granary Wharf to Leeds Dock (formerly Clarence Dock) and get the water taxi back. Unfortunately, this was literally impossible straight away, the waterfront area next to the Direct Line building was closed off and looked like it was being refurbished, most other areas along the... I worked here for 2 years. Its a lovely place in Leeds, very modern and the dock makes is very pretty. There are 2-3 restaurants nearby, its worth a walk form the city centre, but do not expect too much. The Royal Armories is a good place to visit on the rainy days, it takes a good couple of hours...
