About
Open 11.00 Last admission 16.00. Please wrap up warm if visiting in winter. We are a small volunteer-run museum, so sorry - we don't have a cafe. We are located approx 400 ft after the totally separate Ingrow Loco Museum. We are close to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. You don't have to be a railway enthusiast to enjoy our museum! Over 60 television programmes and films have featured carriages from our museum. Watch the videos. Listen to the sound presentations as you sit inside the carriages. See the differences between 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. Signs, posters and small exhibits.

A fabulous little museum
May 2021 • Couples
Two of us went on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely and quiet. I loved being able to go in some of the carriages, particularly the first class one. Lots of fabulous vintage signage and plenty of information. Highly recommended if you love trains and steam.

Transport of delight!
May 2021
There is a good display of vintage carriages dating from the late 19th Century some of which you can enter. There are also locomotives, including 'Lord Mayor ' which is an industrial steam engine made in Leeds. A range of other informative items are also displayed. The shop is well-stocked, particularly with books, including second-hand ones. There is also a room containing a large selection of second-hand magazines for sale. You can browse for hours!

Wonderful insight

Great to have an insight into how train travel has changed over the years. Thoroughly enjoyed even if it was a little cold in there today!

Hello cjs81990, We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit. Our oldest carriage dates back to 1876. Unfortunately our wooden-bodied vintage carriages would deteriorate if there was a large difference in temperature between the interior of the museum and outside! Thank you very much for your review, and we hope that you will visit us again when the weather is a little warmer! Kind regards,

This is an really good day out for the family. Stopped by when travelling on the Keighley & Worth Valley railway, can't recommend this more, the kids loved to see the old carriages and trains. Will go back again soon

Nostalgic Look Back In Time
Oct 2019
It was really great to look at the vintage carriages and read about the ones that were used in films over the years, the staff there were really switched on and couldn't have been nicer, we will definitely go back again in the future when we have more time. Well done to all the workers and volunteers

another local treasure
Aug 2019
The staff here are knowledgeable, friendly and very passionate about the museum and the old carriages. It was fun to pretend to be in any one of the dozens of films and tv shows which have used these carriages, and travel in style! Well worth the money, and such a important corner of British history.

Wonderful memorabilia, Wonderful memories!
Mar 2019 • Friends
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway put on a magnificent Spring Steam Gala, held over three days in March this year. There was much to see and do on this famous branch line! I went to Ingrow West station and on arrival there was much activity, as there usually is. Trains running along the line. Not just any trains but wonderful steam locomotives. Talk about memories! However, at this station there is a brilliant railway museum, it is the Vintage Carriages Trust Museum of Rail Travel. It is independent to the KWVR but what a treasure trove of railway memorabilia and carriages! This was my first visit to this museum, tucked neatly into the railway station! Whether there is a special event on or not the Keighley and Worth Valley railway line and this museum gem is well worth visiting at at any time, for the local or visiting rail enthusiasts of all ages. the museum has certainly earned its Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence! well done to all!

Popped in from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

Brilliant time here - two members of staff took so much time out of their day to show us around!

The amount of items in the museum is phenomenal and the care and attention to them is evident.

The museum is an integral part of your experience at the KWVR, one that is well worth the time and money spent.

Special mention to Trevor who played the Fat Controller and rolled back the years for my other half, who enjoyed remenicing about the Day Out With Thomas events together.

Added extra
Apr 2019 • Friends
Buying a 'Rover' ticket on the KWVR ives free entry into this separate museum. Loads to see and great information from signage and volunteers. If you are a keen railway-ist their collection of old magazines for sale is well worth a visit. Informative Blue Plaques tell you which carriages were used in which films (although I couldn't find out exactly where Jenny Agutter sat in the carriage used in Railway Children !!) Certain carriages actively encourage you to enter and sit down. A really enjoyable added extra to our day out. Although no cafe - there was a coffee machine and drinks or ice creams on sale.
