A gem - and a tardis - of a place
May 2021 • Couples
What a tardis this place is! I didn’t expect so many exhibits. Loved the grand staircase and stained glass exhibition, the social history section and was in awe of whoever made the tapestry depicting life from the beginning. We also had lunch in the cafe - good tuna melt paninis, coffee and excellent lemon drizzle cake. A gem of a place.

A little gem

Fantastic museum with lots to see for young and old. Covid precautions in place and a lovely cafe at the end to enjoy. Even better as it's free

Beautiful park and gardens with a spacious cafe harking back to it’s former glory.

A very pleasant surprise as it was our first venture out for lunch in many months and we were not disappointed. We had a stroll around the well maintained gardens and lunch under the canopy at the cafe as we are still cautious about being inside public places but we felt totally at ease as everything was spotless and hygienic. The food was delicious. We had garlic mushrooms, quiche and salad and a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel between us. The coffee was good too as was the service. The cakes also looked tasty. The animals and birds all seem very well looked after too. The only thing that was a slight issue was the tiny disabled toilet, one of the smallest I’ve seen. However it was clean. Thank you for a lovely day out especially as the last time we went a few years ago the place was quite run down. The pond and fountains have been beautifully restored and it was very peaceful sitting by them.

Cliffe Castle is the museum that is representative of Bradford's history, in that it includes many aspects of ordinary life of the people of the surrounding district. It includes elements of domestic Victorian life and so much more.
Information is clearly displayed next to the many different exhibits. My mother, who was in wheelchair, found them quite accessible. The staff were particularly accommodating & welcoming.

Disabled parking is directly outside the front door

Half term visit
Feb 2020
Dreadful weather, but we already had decided to come last week, as my grandson is fascinated by the stuffed head of the calf with two faces! There is almost too much to see here, you could spend hours looking around, there's something for everyone! It's a shame it closes at 4pm.
The four of us had a really good quality lunch at the Pavilion cafe. It was extremely noisy and busy as lots of children there for the holiday time. But the food came quickly, and the staff were smiling and pleasant throughout well done team!

a park not to be missed.
Jun 2019
Beautifully landscaped park with lovely water features. The museum is free and well worth a visit. The house itself is stunning and retains its original furnishings. The museum has an extensive rock collection plus works of art and objects from local industrial history. The newly renovated cafe offers really yummy freshly baked home made cakes plus a selecion of food and drink and ice creams. The park houses small animals such as birds and rabbits which seem to be very popular with children and also a greenhouse with a collection of interesting plants and cacti. There is also a playground for the children. The park has lots of events throughout the year such as concerts and a garden party so it's worth checking on line to see what's going on. Last year I attended a free willow weaving course which was amazing and we got to take home the things we made. I would say cliffe castle is the best feature of the town and not to be missed.
