The Passionate Brontes is an inspiring and entertaining stroll through the lives and times of Rev Patrick Bronte's remarkable family. The guide uses their poems, letters and novels to weave their story into the fabric of the village. This is a gentle stroll with a relaxed pace that lasts just over an hour and covers less than half a mile around the top of the village and finishes the story in the Bronte Chapel.

We came to Haworth to hear the wonderful Sally Wainwright speak at the Ilkley festival on her documentary To Walk Invisible and were determined to do the long walk across the moors from the Haworth parsonage along the path in front of the gravestones and out on to the moors. We were extremely lucky with the weather and the spring... More

What a fabulous Guided tour we had on Saturday. At one point I noticed that you could have heard a pin drop as everyone hung on Johnnie's words. Johnnie is a winning combination of being a great communicator, an interesting story teller and passionate about his subject. The teachers in the group were impressed by his ability to hold an... Johnnie Briggs is a treasure, as are his expert associates. If you are passionate enough to visit the places that inspired the Bronte books, it stands to reason you would want a guide to help bring it all to life. Johnnie Briggs is that man. His deep knowledge and enthusiastic appreciation of the remarkable circumstances that lead to the publication... More

We splashed out a bit to pay for a tour just for the two of us, and it was the most wonderful part of our visit to Haworth, museum aside. We learned an incredible amount, but it was also great to be able to ask questions and talk about the Bronte period with someone who loves the subject and will... More

We highly recommend that if you want the real Bronte experience to try and squeeze in a tour with Johnnie - it is excellent and will greatly enhance your trip to Haworth. Johnnie amused and enthralled our whole group (even those who hadn't read a Bronte book).

We met Johnnie Briggs in the visitor information centre (superb facility right on hand in the main street). He was relaxed, friendly and had a twinkle in his eye, all of which told us we were in for a treat. Was it really two hours? It flew by! Johnnie is a born storyteller who will keep you and your family... More

A very interesting chap, Johnnie Briggs, with an amazing memory for detail, and a great story teller. He kept us enthralled for a couple of hours and we probably didn't walk more than a mile in total. It was a private tour being low season, as I hate the crocodile of people traipsing about so slowly and having private conversations... More

Wish I had recorded all Johnnie had to say, there was simply no way my husband & I could take it all in, what an amazing mine of information, names & dates. A thoroughly pleasant few hours with a really charming man. Highly recommend

Me and my partner had the most amazing Bronte experience in Haworth , and all due to Johnnie Briggs inspiring knowledge about this famous family. I recommend this to everyone who is interested in history and books.

I booked Johnnie for a whole week of assorted tours both walking and driving. His deep knowledge of Haworth and other parts of Yorkshire was impressive and inspiring. I would have been lost on my own. Cannot wait to use him again on return!
