Revisited this historical gem (with its strong Bronte connections) prior to its closure by Kirklees Council - as a 'money saving exercise' - the same Council which seems to have no problem wasting money on any amount of 'PC' schemes. If they have any sense...More

This is a lovely house with a warm homely feel. The Bronte connection adds to the interest. And the house is also worth a visit in its own right. We had a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon visit.

A ok little place we just came across was £2.50 for a adult free parking little museum about gomersel spen vally area and bronte sister who visited there in the 1800 s . Nice gardens to walk round in worth the admittance fee

Red House is some how haunting in a beautiful way. I walk my dogs in the land next door and sometimes imagine there is someone looking out of the window from the days gone by. Love this place.

As this is a small museum, it was particularly enjoyable to go round with only a few other visitors. Beautifully laid out rooms of the period with many interesting items. Personally, I did not think the life-sized models added anything to the displays but neverthless...More

This is quite a small property in comparison to the other houses/museums in the area such as Bagshaw Hall and Oakwell Hall. There is a small entrance fee, good parking, small gardens to explore, the house is a "livable" size, the rooms feel very "staged"...More
