The modernised boat that glides you along the canal is a wonderful way to see the surrounding countryside. The view of the spire of Chichester Cathedral can be seen on the way back which is the same view that Turner saw when he painted this picture which now hangs at Petworth House. For a lovely leasurely afternoon on a hot... More

A beautiful & relaxing place! The perfect place to walk around & spend an hour or two enjoying the atmosphere here. The visitor centre is welcoming, friendly & the roof top cafe area is a super place to enjoy the views whilst drinking a cuppa.

Service in the cafe was painfully slow, evnethough there were three people serving. Some till and efficient service training would not go amiss. On the plus side, the sandwich and coffee were of good quality and reasonably priced.

We had a wonderful relaxing trip on the Kingfisher along the canal. Whilst watching the world go by the crew gave us a commentary on the history and running of the canal. It was very interesting and not too much information as to turn anybody off. The ladies, in the café, were wonderful. Nothing was too much for them and... More

Went on the 11.00am sailing which was the first trip of the year. The boat was the Kingfisher which has recently undergone a refit. The two crew members were very knowledgable but did not overload us with information. Being very approachable both were more than willing to answer questions asked of them. I liked the information available in map and... More

Walked along the canal from near Cutfiled Bridge to the marina alongside Salterns lock. Lovely quiet stretch with plenty of wildlife. Also interesting when they open the marina lock gates to balance the water levels.

Lovely afternoon out, went with my wife and 3 daughters (5 / 8 / 13) to meet Father Christmas. The trips are run by volunteers however there is still a professional feel to the excursion. We were provided with sausage rolls, mince pies, soft drinks for children, tea/coffee or mulled wine for the adults. Father Christmas gets on board canal... More

From the moment you step onto the lovely Christmas decorated narrowboat you just know that this is going to be fun. And it certainly was. When Santa boarded the vessel at the turn around point even the adults got swept up in the magic and my goodness Santa's gifts were certainly not shabby at all. The snacks on board were... More

This was our 4th year on the Father Christmas trip and we also did the Easter Bunny trip this year. Think this is a really lovely experience and probably the best locally. Great value for money with the refreshments and the quality of interaction with Father Christmas is excellent. Staff are all fantastic. We really enjoyed this once again and... More

We visit here pretty often as the walk is great for our dog and you can hire rowing boats for a very reasonable price too (also dog friendly!). The cafe food is always really lovely - better than the likes of Starbucks etc - and its run by friendly volunteers. Dogs aren't allowed inside the cafe that I'm aware of,... More
