If you're looking for a fantastic FREE day out for all the family, you...

If you're looking for a fantastic FREE day out for all the family, you can't beat Coventry Transport Museum. In the heart of Coventry city centre, this huge Museum is home to the world's largest collection of British road transport, and a visit whisks you away into a world of stories of real people, real passions and real hope. You'll discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world's motor and cycle industries, and get up close and personal with the actual vehicles that defined some of history's most important moments. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time - you'll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. The journey continues through the Boomtown, Spirit of Speed and Ghost Town galleries to bring you right up to the present day.A visit to the Museum brings you face to face with Royal cars, military vehicles, and cars that played vital parts in their drivers' life stories - none more so than the current Land Speed Record holding vehicle, ThrustSSC, which lives at the Museum. Not only can you marvel at this spectacular piece of British engineering, you can experience for yourself what it's like to travel through the sound barrier at over 760mph in the ThrustSSC Simulator.

***Please Note*** Coventry Transport Museum is undergoing a major redevelopment programme during 2014 and the early part of 2015. The Museum remains open throughout this work but you are advised to check the Museum's website to see how your visit may be affected.***

Excellent collection of transport. All information is easy to read and understand. I like the layout and easy to follow route around so you don't miss anything. Doesn't take a particularly long time to get around but can't complain for free!

The Coventry Transport Museum is a world-class attraction and for anyone with an interest in the history of U.K. automotive engineering is worth traveling any distance to visit. Located in easy access of the City Centre, the museum is free to enter although voluntary contributions are encouraged. There is a reasonably good restaurant and a gift shop which is not... More

Took some friends here and they thoroughly enjoyed the day. So many things to look at and well worth a visit. Great that it is free to enter, there is a simulator ride that you have to pay to use, but seeing all the cars was just brilliant. They are immaculate and really fascinating to see. A real jewel in... More

Needed to kill half an hour and stumbled across the transport museum. The whole museum is clean, well laid out, coherently presented and packed full of amazing vehicles, bikes etc. It was also pleasantly quiet, but it was a Tuesday afternoon. Recommend to anyone who has a passion for cars.

Been here a few times, really interested place just gets better every time I go. It's a bit like a Dr Who's Tardis seam small when you walk in then as you turn a corner inside it opens up yet another room has some great classic cars & takes a good four hours or more to get round if you... More

We visited this museum as it was free. I thought we'd be in and out within 30 minutes but we were there for 2 hours. We thoroughly enjoyed our time looking at various forms of transport throughout the years. There were a few interactive displays which the children enjoyed, all very informative. We did go in the land speed simulator... More
