Loved walking around Brindleyplace and Gas Street Basin area's ,beautifully maintained canal systems ,great pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture, one of the more modern buildings here was Arena Birmingham, a huge glass faced structure that surprisingly blends in well with the other more older brick canal buildings, we were sat outside The Malt House Pub, had great views of this building, very photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities and is easy to locate along King Edwards Road.
Most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Terrible Security Staff, Uncomfortable Seats and South Car Park Used As a Toilet
Mar 2020
I attended three days of the All England Badminton Tournament in March 2020. The event was ruined by the horrible, aggressive and downright rude door staff. We were shouted at when we queued, shouted at to open bags by grumpy surely men with issues! We had to put up with this treatment twice a day two days and on Sunda. One door man who put our wristbands on threw the left over part on the floor when there was a bin right behind him, The floor was covered in them. He said the cleaner would pick them up! At the end we were screeched at to leave while the event was till going in inside and people were using the loos and meeting people. I don't know who the security staff think they are in that place. Maybe they thought we were all delinquents who needed to be put in line. The seats were so uncomfortable for a 10 hour sitting time! The food is greasy expensive junk food

Aggressive and Hostile Door Staff Thugs - Who Do They Think They Are!
Mar 2020
On Friday 13th March 2020 to Sunday 15th March 2020 my family and I attended the All England Badminton Championships at Birmingham Arena.
The otherwise happy time was marred by the aggressive and hostile behaviour of the door staff employed by the arena.
The morning and afternoon experience of having to encounter rude and confrontational door staff when entering the building caused us anxiety and stress.
Every day, as we queued we were ‘greeted’ by door staff yelling at us to open our bags.
The tone and manner was universally angry, rude and disrespectful.
The feeling grew worse over the course of the event as we anticipated what we were in store for as we approached the venue.
The door staff behaved as what only can be described as stupid thugs who seemed to enjoy shouting orders at people and wielding the perceived ‘power over’ that they assumed they had.
Ironically they wore the logo ‘Here to Help’ on their clothes which in our experience they clearly were not.

The Arena employs aggressive, arrogant, hostile and confrontational thugs! Screaming automatons!

What an impression to give fans from all over the world.

I see there is another review from the same event which finds the same as I found!

Shocked and unsettled
Mar 2020 • Friends
Sitting in my seat physically shaking with fury at the way I was treated by the security staff on my way in to the second half of my event. I was heavily accosted for having a camera, which had been no issue in the morning, and ignored me when I didn't know the answers to unnecessary questions they asked. Even before this happened, there was a complete disregard for any of the lighthearted comments I made about the contents of my bag. No personality at all from them, until they found it necessary to call over reinforcements due to my not understanding why they were being so ridiculous over something that was not a problem just hours earlier. They then had the audacity to accuse me of holding up the queue, despite the fact that fellow attendees behind me were in full support of my issues with my terrible treatment. Moreover, when I was finally allowed through, one staff member practically stood on top of me as he threatened to evict me from the premises. All of this, just for asking why I needed to answer questions about my personal belongings which 1.had not been an issue before and 2. I didn't have the answers too anyway. The fact that I also had to pour the contents of my drink can into a cup despite it being blatantly obvious what it was now seems unimportant, but further emphasises the incredulous attitude of staff at Arena Birmingham. I am mostly just completely bewildered and distressed at how many people seem to be in a customer-facing position when they don't know how to smile or show basic compassion to anther human. No concern for customers. Whatsoever. None. Wish me luck trying to enjoy the rest of my day here now.

I was blown away last night with James Arthur. He should be so proud of himself after his fantastic performance last night.i used to work in Mental health as well having a Son who came back from Afghanistan battling with mental health. I no full well the battle it brings to achieve everyday life skills. Stay Strong and keep doing what you love best producing and singing. You certainly brought knowledge and that its OK to say iv not been well. Your supporting act was also brilliant. Birmingham Areana was easy to access with staff being helpful. Fantastic birthday treat for me. Thanks for a great night.

I had a great evening at the arena its not so big as ones i have been in. I liked seeing the staff helping people to their seats, they appeared friendly. Didnt take too long to get in. Used vending machines for bottled water. I like this venue for concerts. I had a good seat in block b in the aisle centre so i could not complain! Michael and alfie were on fine form so was the support act!

Amadeus Event staff rude and surly
Feb 2020 • Friends
Went for a drink and an older member of staff started shouting at the young girl serving me, that she was doing it wrong, whilst I was still stood there. Completely rude and unprofessional. When I asked to take it further the staff who were supposed to be ‘managers’ couldn’t have cared less!!! Too much to expect any customer service obviously!
