Visit BBC Birmingham's state-of-the-art studios: home of The Archers,...

Visit BBC Birmingham's state-of-the-art studios: home of The Archers, Midlands Today and BBC WM. Take a peek behind the scenes and then join in some interactive fun as you create your own radio drama complete with sound effects and music! BBC Tour guides give a fascinating insight into the many programmes originating from BBC Birmingham and tell the inside story of what it takes to get them from script to screen. They are also on hand to answer any burning questions relating to technical wizardry, famous faces that have visited the building or even where Nick Owen gets his jokes! This is your invitation to gain access to the rarely-seen world behind the famous TV and radio programmes that are broadcast and produced from BBC Birmingham. BBC Birmingham is a working building so no two tours are the same, but they will always be informative, interesting and entertaining. In 2010 the tours won the Best Tourism Experience in the Heart of England. Ticket prices range from £7 - £9.25 and tours last up to one-and-a-half hours. Tours regularly take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the day (with some tours in the evening). Please see website for further details. The building is wheelchair accessible. All children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

The tour was led by Holly and another lady who I am unfortunately struggling to remember the name of, but both women were incredibly friendly and engaging. The tour was much more informative and fun than anticipated! My peers and I had the opportunity to be on TV and also record our own radio drama, which was kindly emailed to... More

We were shown round by Sue and John, and were lucky to be in a small group. Having been on the listening/watching end of the BBC for rather a lot of years, it was fascinating to see the working environment where the magic comes from. Some things were much as you'd expect (loads of computer screens) but others, like the... More

Our tour was at 13.00 & Sue & Bobby were our guides. We went through to the news studio first, then the gallery - I won't spoil the rest but each bit was very interesting. We didn't get to make a play or take part in the CBBC Copycats as stated on the website so that was disappointing.. Tour took... More

If you don't have the money or the time , I recommend a visit of the visitor center. No need to book, just show up. It is free! There you can experience virtual reality, record yourself presenting the news or the weather and see some media accessories. Pretty cool for kids!

I took my parents as a belated 80th and early 80th birthday experience for them. The information I was sent regarding how to get there was fantastic and on our arrival we were met by a Security Officer who directed us to the waiting area which was very pleasant and comfortable. Straight away you see things in the foyer which... More

Cracking tour. My older teenagers really enjoyed it, so I really recommend it for them ( not so sure about younger teens, but the tour booking info says this when booking too) It's easy to get to, just a walk from New Street Station. Lasted about 1.45 mins with Holly and Rachel. They were fantastically informative jolly tour guides who... More
