If you are expecting a perfectly manicured garden you will be disappointed. It is obvious that more volunteers are needed to tend to the hedges and borders and the facilities are in a sad state. However the gardens have a certain neglected charm and in...More

Thank you .... I like the term 'neglected charm'. You are right we are always offering more opportunities for volunteers. Gardens are always seasonal, and we know that at other times, you will find the gardens very clipped and spruced up... :-)

Went on Friday under 2 for 1 garden scheme. Really disappointed considering previous reviews that the gardens have received. This garden needs a lot of tlc. Most of the beds were full of weeds and no guided tour at the time. The lay out of...More

Fascinating History and interesting location dependant on a lot of voluntary helpers. If you like gardens this will come as a surprise. It is being restored to its original state so don't expect the finished article.

The volunteers were really friendly and helpful. It is a lovely garden in a quiet corner of Birmingham. It just needs more volunteers and money. Would definitely return to support the gardenMore

Really sorry you were disappointed. If you came on our 1940s weekend, yes it would have been rather difficult to take the best of the rest of the Gardens. The RHS membership deal does clearly exclude 'special events' and advises checking the website before setting...More
