Hill Close Gardens are a rare example of victorian detached leisure/pleasure gardens. Once used by townsfolk who lived above their businesses and wanted to escape from the crowded town centre. Owners and tenants came here after work or on Sundays to tend their flowers, fruit and vegetables or to relax. These gardens have been fully restored to their original charm and boasts a visitor centre that can be hired out and is used as a cafe on weekends and bank holidays through the summer months. The gardens are open all year during weekdays. Plant / produce / gift sales. Special events are put on throughout the year.

We visited here for the first time on their Snowdrops open day (a mere 100 varieties) and enjoyed it so much we took out annual membership (very reasonable at £21 for two people). The Victorian summer house gardens have been delightfully restored (and what an undertaking the before and after photos show that to have been), and the ownership history... More

We went to see their Snowdrop day event and they had many different varieties , although not vast swathes that you get in some Snowdrop events. More a case of quality over quantity..however what we saw were lovely. Even some varieties hanging from trees with their roots encased in moss which I have never seen before. Hill close Gardens is... A lovely set of gardens in the centre of Warwick, each with its own charm. Entry is very reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. Well worth visiting, and there are plants available to purchase if you want to take a piece back for your own garden!

Visit these gardens within a garden. Lucky to do it during open weekend. They had moses dancers. Worth it! Visit.

Wonderful real earthy educational interesting place to visit. Extremely wheelchair friendly and wonderful facilities for refreshments. A peaceful visit taking us elegantly back in time to where we are now - yes most of us try and grow our own and what amazing ideas you can pick up here .........

This venue has free 2 hours parking, the car park was full when we arrived so we went back to the road and found a space within a 1/4 of a mile, also free for the same time, fine for us pensioners of able body! Great afternoon with stalls of handcrafts and wildlife trusts and a beehive display, naturally there... More

This is a beautiful secluded garden on the banks of the river and in the shadow of Warwick Castle, lovely cottage garden flowers in abundance, very tranquil too

Took a trip on a Sunday afternoon to view these gardens after seeing an article in a RHS magazine. The RHS member concerned got free entry, nothing for the infant and I think it was £4 for me. Received a pleasant welcome and a direction that the little one may like the willow tunnel into the garden that they use... More

The restored allotments at Hill Close Gardens are well worth a visit if you are interested in (social) history or enjoy peaceful, beautiful "room gardens" with a variety of flowers & at this time of year, fruit. Quiet & full of aromas. Run by helpful, friendly volunteers.

Benjamin Chadband had organic gardening and food miles sewn up long before the concepts even existed. The Victorian confectioner and pork pie maker had a plot near his town centre shop that provided a retreat from the counter and meat for his customers. His slice of this communal hedged leisure garden, which was built on a gentle hill, had a... More
