Probably my favourite art gallery. Great location (both the building and the grounds). It is large enough to have a good range of art but small enough to see it all in one visit. Of particular note are the folk art exhibits (and be sure to see the biro drawings in the gallery off the main folk art gallery) and... More

Visited Compton Verney with the whole family. What a disappointment. The grounds are nice and paths well maintained which having elderly people in the party is a consideration. The play area was a hit with the children. The galley and exhibit was well received by all of the family as it always is. Having returned this year following two amazing... More

The Capability Brown park is stunning as you might expect. Families can take advantage of the picnic areas even if they don't want to visit the mansion where the gallery is housed. However I urge you to do so. Each collection is very well displayed and the literature is most informative. The Chinese collection is unusual as it consists mostly... More

Compton Verney Gallery & Park is great for a family day out. The Capability Brown landscaped grounds provide varied walks, plenty of bird activity, interesting plants and woods and activity and play areas for children. The current exhibition in the house shows the development of the English countryside over three centuries and the permanent collections are a feast for art... More

Was amazed to read that the house was falling into disrepair & was rescued in 1993. There is a huge lake in the grounds with a circular walk - a small pedestrian ferry allows you to complete this without using the road. Park was designed by Capability Brown & is on a grand scale. There are galleries on several floors... More

A great day out! The beautiful house is set in impressive Capability Brown landscape. A sensational permanent exhibition sits alongside a modern extension which houses temporary exhibits, a restaurant and shop. My 9 year old daughter enjoyed taking a complementary backpack of goodies which included nature trail cards, bug box, compass maps and drawing pads etc. She enjoyed seeing the... More

Visited with 3 generations of family and found something for everyone. The children loved the adventure playground and woodland area. The bags for the children in the art gallery were fabulous, the best I've seen and kept a lively preschooler very focused searching for the dogs on the paintings

We bought an annual ticket for £9 each (Senior 2017 prices) for unlimited return visits to the galleries and the park. You have to pay more for the exhibitions. The galleries were interesting enough with plenty of info in each room for the paintings/exhibits.There were some wonderful paintings in such a small art gallery including Cranach and Holbein. Lots of... More

This much-looked-forward-to occasion was not disappointing. We have met up in Compton Vernay once, sometimes twice, a year for the past six years. Our meet-up was over a cup of coffee in the new cafe. Lovely coffee served in stunning cups and saucers (was a bit nervous you might still have those little white mugs and insipid coffee I'd experienced... More
