Spirits of Stratford past
Nov 2021
We visited the Museum both to see the exhibits and later returned for the Ghost Tour. The museum is more suited to the junior visitor and shows rooms set out as they were in Tudor times. The Ghost Tour was much more for the adult as it was carried out by the light of `Ye Olde Led Lantern ` and stories told by the entertaining Winifred who regaled us with tales of murder, dire deeds and haunting. We were thoroughly engaged in the experience and stepped out into the cold, night air looking back with some trepidation into the darkness. But......why had the stairs creaked when nobody was anywhere near them?.........

A little Gem in the heart of Stratford upon Avon
Our son is autistic and obsessed with History especially the Tudor age
He said for autistic people this place is PERFECT
they allow you to touch things
There is an enormous amount of information and they have even created genuine smells
He love it so much and will definitely want to return

Realistic, Gruesome Tudor Life!
Sep 2021 • Friends
This is a brilliant place to visit! There are so many rooms to go into, all full of Tudor figures and objects from the time. The owner who greets you at the entrance, was very knowledgeable and even did a few modern local accents for us, which we found hilarious! The house seems to be a walk-through maze of just so much stuff to see, there's a prison in one area, and there are rats and straw on the ground. (not real ones, of course!) But everything is so authentic, that you could imagine how awful it was to live around the Tudor period. A lot of the things on display you can touch, which makes it all the better! There is a bed that you can lay on, very uncomfortable as it's packed with straw, and has velvet curtains around it. There are many creepy looking figures situated just about everywhere, all dressed in clothing of the time, doing their various jobs, such as the doctor and the dentist, - really gruesome! The whole place has a dark feel to it,
with heavily draped curtains and fabrics all around, and I would recommend it to kids over 8 years old, as younger ones could actually be quite scared of the faces on these figures. They are VERY realistic! You can have a go at writing using a feather quill and ink, although if you took your paper away with you, the ink would still be wet, so we left it behind.
Very reasonable price entry fee, and if I go to Stratford-Upon-Avon again, I am DEFINATELY going to this museum again, as it was so realistic and also a bit scary, to be honest! The route of the museum takes around an hour, I think, and takes you back to the entrance, and I was sad that it was over, and could have gone round again! There is a great gift shop, inexpensive, and plenty of good quality items to buy. The place doesn't receive any funding, which is sad because it's a real insight for kids and adults, to learn about Tudor times, so I urge you to visit Tudor World, and keep this great place going!

Highly entertaining ghost tour

Winifred (Hannah) the tour guide/spirt was fantastic. We were a rowdy group but she gave as good as she got and then some. She was able to use things we had said as part of the tour to make it extremely funny. Very entertaining, spooky and good value for money. The tour lasted just under an hour and all of our party enjoyed every moment. Felt like you had stepped back in time. 100% recommended

Do you believe in ghosts?
Oct 2021
This is a really good tour! Wilfred was mesmerizing in the way he told the history of the house. The house itself didn't feel like it had negative energy, but there is definitely an energy in there. The top of the stairs gave me a pressure feeling in my chest. The last room before going down the stairs made me feel a little bit giddy, and light headed. The final room downstairs was another that was stifling with a sadness, not malevolent though. At the end of the tour they brought us some hot chocolate, which was very nice. Overall I would say do it, it is a beautiful building, and Wilfred was very knowledgeable and a nice man.
