Nice quiet place.

Nice place, good location, friendly staff and very clean and tidy, if your local and haven't been it definitely worth a visit.

Visited this lovely little national Trust property as we are members on a rainy day this Easter. It didn't dissappoint. Although small it had a very diverse history and everyone we met was helpfull and cheerful despite the weather. Would have liked to stay and enjoy the garden but it was too wet.Would recommend it if you are in the area

My toddler and I visited for a couple of hours and this was a perfect amount of time. It's a fairly small property in comparison to some of the other local properties but a couple of hours is sufficient. Lovely setting, gardens are just coming into bloom and lots of nature to see, including a little pond. Ideal place for... More

My husband and I visited the Washington Old Hall yesterday as we have recently joined the national trust. It was extrenely tidy, very pretty but very small. They have lovley gardens and had activities on for the kids for easter which they got a chocolate bunny for completion.

What a great surprise! We didn't get chance to go round the house as our daughter was ill. We did the Easter egg hunt which was great. There is a cafe there which only takes cash and doesn't sell hot food but has nice snacks. The gardens are quite small but really well kept and the 'Nuttery' is great for... More

This is a lovely little house to visit full of information on its history. It is set out wonderfully. The garden is a very peaceful place and it has a lovely tearoom.

Visited with a friend and our 3 young children during Easter holidays. Very pleasantly surprised; the children loved the gardens. There is a small but well judged play area, plenty of outdoor space for running around, including both formal and informal areas, and as it was the holidays there was an activity on offer which involved spotting pond creatures and... Visited here for a second time but still found it fascinating. It does have the George Washington connection. The property at one time was divided into appartments with one of them furnished as it would have been when the property was split. There are very informative staff willing to fill you in with the historic details. There is a small... More

Nice little ( by National Trust standards) house with an interesting history. The George Washington connection is played up for American visitors. The thing I liked best was the garden and orchard. It's a shame that it closes so early a s it would be nice for a walk on a summer evening and at 4pm we were too late... More

This is a must-see for American visitors to the North East of England. It is the original ancestral home of George Washington, before the family decamped to Sulgrave and hence to America. Discover the origin of the stripes in the stars and stripes.
