Always lovely to pop into the Cathedral at any time. Some wonderful stained glass by Victorian and modern artists and interesting memorials. Friendly staff and always in good order

The cathedral is well worth a visit. The cafe serves the best bacon sandwiches in tbh city. The organ is currently inoperable, requiring a great deal of investment to rebuild but the replacement modern one is superb. I sing in a local inependant scool choir, and have performed many xmas sevices over the years. Well worth a visit.

Hi Dave. Thanks for your great review - we appreciate the feedback. Our cafe does indeed serve fabulous bacon sandwiches. It is closed for a week now for refurb and will open under a slightly new guise - as The Dog Leap cafe - on Tuesday 2nd May. Well worth a visit when it re-opens! More

A very beautiful and old cathedral. Great architecture, great stonework and woodwork inside. My young son was impressed by the old flags. Visited during Maundy Thursday which was great to hear part of the service (we stayed for half an hour) and the choir. A place worth visiting!

Hello John. Thanks for your lovely review. Our choir is indeed fabulous and sing Evensong week nights (apart from Weds) in term time (as well as the Sunday services) so do drop in again and take time to listen to them. Truly magical in this setting! More

I have visited many cathedrals in England and elsewhere. St Nicholas' has little to offer those who have an interest in ecclesiastical architecture or those in search of spiritual uplift. Give the Cathedral café a wide berth. My experience of church catering has been generally favourable so I thought that this place was worth a try. Tea was unpleasant and... More

Dear BP, We are sorry you found the Cathedral "drab and dreary". Other reveiwers have not found it to be so. Perhaps the sombre last days of Holy Week, when some of the Cathedral's beautiful adornments are covered to signify the Christian community's solemn preparations for Good Friday, weren't the best time to visit? Do come again after Easter, when... More

After a day of shopping with my granddaughters the youngest, age almost 4, said let's go in here. We were all fascinated, the girls were impressed with the children's chapel which had toys and colouring in as well as religious themed topics. The girls wanted to see everything and we did, which stretched my knowledge of local history and languages.... More

This is a beautiful cathedral. It is actually older inside than it looks from the outside. Inside there is a stunning stained-glass window, some lovely stonework and woodwork and also some really old flags. When we were there a service which was lovely and great to hear the choir. It was very peaceful.

Called into St Nicholas Cathedral on a sunny Saturday morning . Lots of Historic artefacts from 13thCentury onwards . Large section of Services Flags, sculptures and remembrance items. Stained glass windows beautiful both traditional and modern . This is the only Cathedral named after St Nicholas in the British Isles - well worth a stop !!

This cathedral has a large tower leading into it. Inside we found many dedication to our was dead with battle flags overhead. There is a dedication to a local, Vice Admiral Collingwood. A famous naval man in his own right, but he is known mostly as the officer who took over British forces in the battle of Trafalgar after Nelson... More

Located near the railway station and is considered the main church in the town centre. Simply stands above the rest of the structures and is majestic.

Me and Mom decided to have a look inside. I was looking for the crypt of the Knight (and still looking.) the inside is fascinating with its gravestones on the floor, massive ornate font and beautiful stain glassed windows. There is also a small information centre and say a prayer and light candle stand. at the far end of the... More
