We called in to look at the exhibitions in prior to our wedding in August. I love this gallery, stunning setting for our wedding. We really enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland exhibition and didn't mind the fee as it all goes into running the rest of the gallery which is open to the public for free. Our wedding in August... More

It's quite a nice gallery to walk around, but it doesn't have an extensive collection. We enjoyed it, but there isn't enough to return to.

Went for a look around the laying while conversing after surgery, been a number of times and always enjoyed my time there. The only downside is that some of the exhibits require an entrance fee which I find disappointing. However the visit was still enjoyable but the paid for exhibit was a bit disappointing especially as was a paid for... More

Interesting building, some recent and some 19th Century details in the building itself, not too big. Local collections are free to visit but quite small. Some excellent John Martin pieces and a couple of impressionist and good pre-raphaelites, but not a huge display Watercolour gallery has examples of the 'grand tour' era, but dont be excited about there being a... The Laing has a great collection of both internationally known artists work and also a comprehensive of local work - particularly the paintings and pottery. All displayed very well indeed. This is a world class gallery

We often visit art galleries wherever we are, so we decided to pay a visit to Laings, there were some beautiful paintings depicting Old Newcastle and the life of long ago, as well as many other interesting paintings and artefacts, we did enjoy it, but felt that some of the paintings were not shown to their best as you could... I visited the Laing recently to view the Out of Chaos exhibition and was most impressed. This comprised a series of works from the Ben Uri gallery in London, including work from David Bomberg, Frank Auerbach, Chaim Soutine and Marc Chagall. The permanent collection was also good, with interesting paintings from local artist John Martin. There was a range of... More

Attended this Gallery with family to view a contemporary, local piece of art - "Circles are Slices if Spheres" which we all enjoyed but access to gallery where this piece of art is displayed is via a gallery occupied by some very traditional pieces. This simply doesn't work at all. Otherwise the Laing provides good facilities which should be enjoyed... More

Went here on Saturday morning, very quiet and few visitors as so close to Christmas. They have several galleries including two galleries where there is a fee to pay for viewing. Visited the cafe where I had a very agreeable bacon stottie sandwich and pot of tea. Clearly the fees have been introduced to counteract reduced grants from the local... More
