This is an arch on Guildford High Street, classical in design on the High Street side but clearly modern and nondescript on the Tunsgate side. The only reason for walking through it is to access the shops and restaurants on Tunsgate.

I am always happy to pass this spot, it makes me happy. The bread seller can count on my money as well. Great history and age does edify. Never miss a chance to visit and shop in Guildford

At the moment, this arch represents place to meet (for visitors and town walk tours); or people use it to walk through to the castle grounds and gardens. During weekends, a flower seller and pastry/bread vendor are a constant feature. However, with the newly minted...More

Tunsgate Arch is located on the high street in Guildford and was built in 1818. It is a walk through way and most people just walk under it without even noticing it. It has an information plaque. The style of architecture is different on each...More

Near the top of the high street is Tunsgate Arch. Not the sort of place you would visit specifically but worth standing back and admiring it. Walk through it and there is a wonderful jewellery shop which I bought my wife's engagement ring.

This is a distinctive arch in the main shopping area which is used as a market area. It leads through to some more shops and will soon be complete. On the rear wall is a large commemorative plaque to a winner of the Victoria Cross...More

A monumental building situated opposite the Guildhall in the historic High Street. Serves a a walkthrough to the Castle Grounds (worth a visit for the gardens).

Reference the brickwork behind the front of Tunsgate Arch. My Dad did a lot of that with another man in the mid 1930s - I believe a lot of it was repair work. Its nothing in particular but memories for me when I go through...More
