Great piece of history

What remains of the Abbey ruins are in the lovely Abbey gardens. The ruins are quite interesting and there are information boards giving lots of details on the Abbey.

Amazing considering the time lag since construction that there are so many ruins still there for all to see. An amazing history and well worth a visit.

We visited the abbey and the grounds last week May 2017. The abbey and all its remains are truely stunning and an amazing sight. However there were some signs of neglect around the grounds and the tennis courts are totally out of place in that situation and should be removed and the area grassed over, even pending more restoration. The... More

These Abbey ruins are next to the Catherdral & in the Abbey Gardens. There are quite a lot of the Abbey ruins remaining & worth a visit if you are in the centre of town.

We were lucky enough to have reasonable weather to enjoy the Abbey ruins and gardens. There is an interesting circular walk which is alongside the river Lark for part of the way. Very pretty with lots of birds and squirrels. Pack some monkey nuts as the squirrels are tame and will take the nuts from your hand. The gardens are... More

We spent a long afternoon here with our children (7 and 10). We drove into town, had a look see and stumbled upon this park. We didn't want to leave! We got some food from M&S and had an impromptu picnic. The kids ran around the whole afternoon, never tired. And no electronics requests for ours!

What a lovely place to visit in the heart of BSE! The gardens are gorgeous, especially in the spring/summer plus there is so much history there, including a meeting of the nobles who were to force King John to sign the Magna Carta. A magnificent ruin, you still get an idea of how large the Abbey and it's precincts were... More
