The Abbeygate Cinema is a superbly comfortable place to watch films. Buy a glass of wine, sink into a really relaxing armchair (with drinks holder!) and enjoy the movie. The other attraction is there is NO popcorn in sight. There are only two screens and the choice of films is restricted but covers most recent good quality movies. The bar/restaurant... More

Okay so really I haven't been to the Abbeygate since 2014 when I lived in Bury St Edmunds. While I was there I saw a movie almost once a week and sometimes twice on a weekend. They had two small cinemas that you could bring a glass of wine into and a very nice café to eat at before or... More

This is a lovely cinema.....comfy seats and even sofas to relax and enjoy the movie.....take your drinks in with you, even alcoholic ones :) The thing that really makes it for me is the wonderful, friendly staff......thanks everyone for another thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We're members here and having just been to cineworld we remembered why we stopped going there in the first place!! The auditorium sizes are smaller and more cosy, the seat more comfortable on more leg room. Food and drink is always good. Highly recommend

Friendly and cosy cinema showing the latest films, have a drink or something to eat before or after the film, popular and therefore gets very busy but worth it.

Abbeygate Cinema is an experience not just a night at the cinema, the chairs or sofas are comfortable, they are spacious, an opportunity to eat excellent food before or after the film delivered with excellent service. Would highly recommend a visit. I only ever go here to watch a film, the intimate surroundings and a great glass of wine.

This small but luxurious cinema is one of the gems of Bury St Edmunds. In addition its central location gives a very wide choice of places to start or finish your afternoon or evenings pleasure.

Pat and his wife are an absolute asset to this place, always friendly and cheerful. My husband and I come as often as we can whether it is to watch a ballet, opera or a film we are never disappointed with our experience.
