Went with some friends to see the Northern Soul film. Was a lovely little cinema with reasonably priced drinks. Just found it to be a little warm and claustrophobic inside as it was full....didnt dare to go to the toilet as would have had to climb over too many people and walk past the screen to get to the exit... We've been watching films here for many years and it's always been a delight. No popcorn, no adverts, no extras - just the film you've chosen to see, with good projection and sound quality in very comfortable surroundings. A pre-film coffee or drink is reasonably priced, the volunteer staff are friendly and efficient. Yo can now book tickets and choose... More

This is a much needed cultural meeting place.I have enjoyed many a good movie in this theatre.Should you arrive early enough you can have a drink at the bar or as I do an Irish Coffee. Great value for money, and if you are a student you get a discount as well. Give it a go,a good night out.

It is right that the seats are a little uncomfortable but this is more than made up for by the atmosphere. The volunteers who run it are friendly and it has a very clubby atmosphere where everyone is made to feel welcome. I like the little bar - it is nice to have a drink before the film starts and... Been three times now. Not a particularly good experience on a cold winter's night. The bar and foyer area is very cold and miserable and it took an eternity to actually get onto the car park through the drop down barriers! The volunteer staff are snotty and unhelpful and for any film over 80 mins in length expect to be... More

The Film Theatre is just wonderful. The range of films is brilliant. It's all run by volunteers. Good little bar. No trailers so just good films. Regular free showings of local history, vintage classics and student films. Cheap tickets for main showings. Friendly volunteers. Easy to park - University car park. Right next to station and bus stop. The only... More

We only found out about the film theatre as a friend volunteers here. We went to watch a film here which had been on general release at the main cinemas but had only shown for around a week before it was taken off. The cinema is lovely, it is very small, probably only holds around 100 people. The seats were... More

It's cheap, there's a bar, adjoining free carpark, near railway station and bus stops - and no trailers or adverts to sit through. Only drawback is that the seats aren't too comfortable but this is a minor inconvenience as the quality of films shown here is unmatched in The Potteries.

This is how a cinema should be.... just like a miniature version of the old ABC in Hanley and with a varied selection of films you wouldn't ever get at the Odeon or Vue.

The tickets are cheap, which is good if you're on a budget. Just don't expect comfy seats, which could be a problem if the film has a long running time. Otherwise, good value for money.
